PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk again provided educational scholarships for five students in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands to study at the Bukit Asam Mining Industry Community Academy (AKIPBA) in 2022.
AKIPBA is an educational institution established by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), PT Inalum (Persero), PT Timah Tbk (TINS), PT Antam Tbk (ANTM) which are members of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID.
The presence of AKIPBA is the company's commitment to fulfilling competent human resources to meet the needs of the mining industry.
PT Timah since 2018 has provided scholarships for Babel students to study at the D1 level at AKIPBA. This is a step for PT TIMAH Tbk to prepare human resources in the mining industry.
The recipients of the AKIPBA scholarship from PT TIMAH Tbk in 2022 came from West Bangka Regency and Bangka Regency. Currently, the scholarship recipients have been dispatched to AKIPBA on Saturday (5/11/2022).
One of the participants who received the AKIPBA scholarship Noviayani from SMAN 1 Merawang said she was very grateful to be able to get this scholarship.
He even initially planned to postpone continuing his education to higher education because of limited funds. So he tried to work first so he could save for college.
"I had previously registered for work while waiting for the results of this AKIPBA announcement because if I wanted to study elsewhere, I was still thinking about the costs. I am interested in AKIPBA, this is a mining school and also a scholarship," he said, Monday (7/11/2022).
Novi continued, and she majored in Mineral and Coal Mining Processing Engineering. Even though she only studied for one year, she hoped that later he would be able to work and return to continue his education.
She said that he started taking part in a series of selections such as administration, interviews, medical tests, and surveys last August.
"I'm very happy and very grateful, and so are my parents. The test process has several stages from administration, interviews, medical tests, and surveys. It started last August and Alhamdullilah I was able to study for free because of scholarships," said the second child of five siblings. this.
According to Novia, he has always been interested in the mining industry, especially since Bangka Belitung has a tin mine. Therefore, he wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to study.
Likewise, Dio Riki Febrian, a student from SMKN 1 Muntok, West Bangka, said that he was very happy to be able to pass the AKIPBA scholarship selection. He even took the test twice, namely direct acceptance from Bukit Asam and PT Timah.
"Before PT Timah announced the opening of this scholarship, I joined the Bukit Asam one first. Because I hope to be able to study here, besides being free, I am interested in the mining industry," he said.
Dio said that initially, he did not plan to continue his education to higher education because of financial constraints.
"Because the cost of studying was constrained, so I thought about how to go to college. My sister also used to study at AKIPBA, so I was more and more interested in being able to pass this program," he said.
He hopes that later he can take advantage of this opportunity to study as well as possible so that later he can achieve his goals.
"I will make the best of this opportunity," he said.
