BANGKA BARAT – To increase the catch of fishermen, PT Timah Tbk donated shrimp nets to two fishing groups in Belo Laut Village. The two groups that received assistance were the Mother's Prayer Fishermen Group from Pait Jaya hamlet VI and the Api-Api fishing group from Terabik hamlet.
The net assistance to the fishing group was handed over by the Head of the Bangka Tonggo Marine Unit, P Situmorang to the two fishing groups and witnessed by the Belo Laut Ibnu Village Head, at the KUB Doa Ibu Fisherman's Cottage, Monday (24/1/2022) afternoon.
The head of the Prayer Fisherman Group, Mrs. Dusun VI Pait Jaya Hormen, said that the net assistance from PT Timah Tbk was really needed by fishermen."We from KUB Doa Ibu hamlet VI Pait Jaya thank you for the assistance from PT Timah. This assistance can be useful for all fishing friends," he said.
On that occasion, Deputy Chair of the Api-api fishing group in Terabik hamlet, Yurdin (42) also admitted that he was happy to receive net assistance from PT Timah, especially now that it is the shrimp season. "Alhamdulillah, I am very happy to receive this assistance, the assistance of this shrimp netting trawl (Kantong) can be useful for fishing groups. Moreover, the current weather is very suitable for catching shrimp. Hopefully it can improve the welfare of fishermen," said Hormen
In addition, the village head of Belo Laut Ibnu also expressed his appreciation for PT Timah's concern for the fishermen in Belo Laut. "We appreciate PT Timah's commitment so far, which of course we in the village feel directly or positively impact the activities or operations of PT Timah in our village area. The form of synergy between the Government and BUMN, of course, ends for the welfare of the community," said Ibnu.
He also advised that the assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk could be utilized as well as possible so that it could have an impact on improving the welfare of fishermen.
Meanwhile, in the Karimun area, Riau Islands, PT Timah Tbk also handed over assistance to the Friends of Pangkalan Leho Joint Business Group (KUB), Teluk Uma Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency. Assistance is provided to support traditional fishermen in the company's operational areas.
The chairman of KUB Sahabat Pangkalan Leho Mistarudin appreciated the assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk as a form of concern for fishing groups.
Mistarudin said that their group consisted of 10 people. Where the assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk will be used to buy fishing nets. Thus, it is expected to increase the catch of fishermen. "Thank you PT Timah for the assistance that has been given to the group. This financial assistance is planned to be used to buy nets and equipment, so that they can support the income of the members," he said. (**)
