PANGKALPINANG -- In 2025, PT TIMAH Tbk provided assistance to 52 houses of worship across the company’s operational areas. This support represents the company’s commitment to fostering harmony with communities through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
PT TIMAH Tbk distributed assistance to various houses of worship such as mosques, churches, viharas, and others in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Riau Islands Province as part of efforts to enhance comfort in worship and to support the creation of a harmonious and inclusive community life.
The assistance provided included building renovations, roof and floor repairs, construction of ablution facilities, procurement of worship equipment, and improvements to other supporting facilities to ensure that houses of worship are more proper, safe, and comfortable for congregants.
The house of worship assistance program is a routine program implemented by the company every year. This reflects the company’s presence in supporting religious activities within the community.
In Bangka Regency, West Bangka, South Bangka, Belitung, East Belitung, as well as PT TIMAH Tbk’s operational areas in the Riau Islands, the program received positive responses from local communities and management boards of houses of worship.
One of the beneficiaries was Al-Barokah Mosque, located in Air Simpur Hamlet, Pemali Village, Pemali District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
This assistance reflects PT Timah’s tangible concern for the social and spiritual life of surrounding communities. Through this support, the construction of Al-Barokah Mosque can now be continued gradually after previously being halted due to limited funds.
As conveyed by the Chairman of Al-Barokah Mosque in Pemali Village, Bangka Regency, Sulaiman expressed his gratitude and appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk’s attention and assistance to their mosque.
The construction of the mosque began in mid-2022 through community self-funding. Support later came from the Regency and Provincial governments, and now assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk has further strengthened the community’s spirit to complete the construction of the house of worship.
“We started the construction with community self-funding. The following year, there was assistance from the local government, the Provincial Government, and now from PT TIMAH Tbk. Although the assistance is provided in stages, it is very meaningful for us,” he added.
In addition to serving as a place of worship, Al-Barokah Mosque, which is located near a former mining pond, is expected to become a religious destination and a resting place for travelers passing through the area.
“This mosque is located in a fairly strategic area, close to the pond. We hope that it can later become a stopover and place of worship for travelers, as well as a religious tourism attraction in our village,” he said.
Recently, PT TIMAH Tbk also provided assistance to support the construction of the Bakti Kasih Funeral Home located in Menjelang Subdistrict, Mentok District, West Bangka Regency.
This funeral home has long been a hope for the congregation of the Catholic Church of Saint Mary, Protectress of Sailors Parish. The construction of this funeral facility has been carried out through community self-funding and is now nearing completion.
Pastor Raymond explained that the presence of the Bakti Kasih Funeral Home is greatly needed by the congregation, especially families living far from the city center who do not have a proper place to lay their loved ones to rest.
“The funeral home provides a decent and peaceful place to manage the deceased professionally and to support grieving families. This is an important need so that the final respects can be carried out with dignity,” he said.
Pastor Raymond also expressed his appreciation and prayers for PT TIMAH Tbk.
“We from the Catholic Church would like to thank PT TIMAH Tbk for helping with the construction of this funeral home. May PT TIMAH Tbk always be blessed and continue to be successful,” he said.
The Head of the Corporate Communication Department of PT TIMAH Tbk, Anggi Siahaan, stated that this program is part of the company’s commitment to supporting religious activities in its operational areas.
“Houses of worship are not only places for religious activities, but also centers for moral development, social interaction, and community unity. Through this assistance, PT TIMAH Tbk aims to contribute directly to supporting religious activities, including houses of worship,” he said.
PT TIMAH Tbk emphasized that support for houses of worship is part of the social pillar of the TJSL program, in line with the company’s efforts to support sustainable development and strengthen positive relationships with communities. (*)
