BATAM -- PT Timah Tbk Production Unit received the Proper Gold award from the Provincial Government of the Riau Archipelago. This award is a form of appreciation from the Riau Islands Provincial Government for companies that have committed to implementing sustainable environmental management.
The Gold Proper Award was handed over by Assistant 3 of the Riau Islands Province Andri Rizal and Head of the Riau Islands Province Environment and Forestry Service Hendri to the Head of the Kundur Production Unit, Ari Wibowo which was held at the Best Westrem Premier Panbil hotel Batam, Tuesday 16 May 2023.
Head of Environment and Forestry Service of Riau Archipelago Province Hendri said, in the 2021/2022 period as many as 44 companies took part in PROPER including 32 companies obtaining BLUE PROPER, 3 companies obtaining GREEN PROPER and 1 company obtaining GOLD PROPER.
PT Timah Tbk is the only company in the Riau Archipelago Province to receive a Gold Proper based on the results of an assessment conducted by the Riau Islands Provincial Government.
"For this reason, we from the Riau Islands Province Environment and Forestry Service congratulate the award recipients. And thank you to the companies that have applied PROPER," he said.
He appealed to companies in the Riau Archipelago to implement PROPER as an effort to protect the environment in a sustainable manner. So that in the future the number of companies applying PROPER will increase.
Meanwhile, Assistant 3 of the Riau Islands Provincial Government Andri Rizal said that his party appreciates business actors or companies that continue to make new and sustainable innovations in an effort to protect the environment.
"Don't feel complacent with what we have achieved today. However, use this as a momentum to continue to do our best to protect our environment," he advised.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Karimun Regency Environmental Service Rita Agustina appreciated PT Timah Tbk's Kundur Production Unit and gave appreciation to PT Timah Tbk which had won PROPER GOLD.
"This shows that PT Timah Tbk has extraordinary commitment and effort in maintaining the sustainability of the environment around its place of business and hopes that next year PROPER EMAS can be maintained," he said.
Rita hopes that PT Timah Tbk will continue to innovate in protecting the environment and comply with environmental management regulations.
He also hopes that in the future, many companies in Karimun Regency will receive PROPER and continue to synergize with the local government in protecting and preserving the environment. (*)
