BELITUNG TIMUR - PT Timah Tbk supports the Government's program to reduce the prevalence of stunting in the Company's operational areas. One of them is by providing education to prevent stunting.
Through the Kemunting program or Stunting Reduction Activities, PT Timah Tbk provides education about stunting prevention in Damar District, East Belitung Regency.
53 participants seemed enthusiastic about participating in the health outreach program "kemunting", an activity to reduce stunting carried out by PT Timah Tbk in Mengkubang Village, Damar District, Thursday (07/09/2023).
Also present at the socialization were the Head of CSR Division EbbI Wibisana, the Head of Belitung Production Unit Sigit Prabowo, the Head of Health, Population Control and Family Planning Services M Yulhaidir, Head of Damar Arif Firmansyah Kapala Subdistrict, Mengkubang Pirmawan Village.
The head of Damar sub-district, Arief Firmansyah, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah Tbk for conducting health socialization regarding the problem of stunting.
Although, Mengkubang Village has not yet become a stunting locus, namely a special location for handling stunting cases.
"Thank God, Mengkubang Village has not yet become a stunting locus in Damar District," said Arief Firmansyah.
According to Arief, the handling of stunting must be done together.
This is because the steps to tackle stunting start from health to facilities, such as the availability of latrines and clean water. Then, Economic factors and parenting styles also have an impact on stunting.
"In Mengkubang Village, based on the results of verification and evaluation, the availability of clean water is sufficient and six households do not have toilets," he explained.
Arief explained that Damar District continues to be optimistic about helping the Beltim Regency Government in overcoming the stunting problem. With this socialization, he said, it could help the Government in educating the public.
"In Mengkubang there are 10 families in the category at risk of stunting, and 26 people are stunted," he said.
Likewise, the Head of Mengkubang Village, Pirmawan, said that even though they are not yet a locus area, they need to increase their educational insight as is done by PT Timah Tbk.
"Hopefully those we invite can understand what PT Timah Tbk has provided," he said.
Meanwhile, stunting socialization participant Desi said the activities carried out by PT Timah Tbk were very good because it can increase the educational insight of pregnant mothers and socialization participants.
"This socialization is good, we can share and ask questions about steps to overcome stunting," said the Dahlia 13 stunting reduction cadre.
According to Desi, the presentation from the resource person presented by PT Timah Tbk could be understood and applied by the participants later.
Moreover, the parenting style in Mengkubang Village has a big impact on stunting in Mengkubang Village. So, mothers, cadres, and other participants need to know about this socialization.
"PT Timah Tbk supports stunting prevention in this village, and we thank PT Timah Tbk," he said.
On this occasion, PT Timah Tbk also provided additional food packages for children.(*)
