BANGKA SELATAN -- Vaccination for the community continues to be launched to accelerate the achievement of herd immunity (community immunity) in an effort to deal with Covid-19. Supporting the Government Program, PT Timah Tbk carries out vaccinations for residents to Lepar Island, South Bangka Regency. The medical team with CSR PT Timah Tbk crossed the ocean using fishing boats to provide vaccination services for residents of Lepar Island. Vaccination was held at Penutuk Village Hall, Tuesday (5/10/2021).
In addition to holding vaccinations, PT Timah Tbk also provides groceries package assistance for people who have been vaccinated. This is in an effort to ease the burden on the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dozens of residents from teenagers to the elderly seemed enthusiastic to come to the Village Hall, waiting for their turn to be vaccinated. This vaccination was followed by residents from two villages namely Penutuk Village and Tanjung Labu, Lepar Pongok Subdistrict.

The residents of Penutuk Village understand that the vaccine becomes an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19. That's why he and his family follow the vaccine. Similarly, Lis Sugianti said, usually they go to the garden from morning to evening, so they are not informed about the implementation of vaccines. "I used to go to the garden, today I didn't go to the garden because of the rain. Got information PT Timah held vaccinations, so I immediately came to be able to. It's healthy too," he said.
According to Lis, the vaccinations carried out are also not far from his home. He was grateful that in addition to getting vaccinated he also got a package of food. Meanwhile, Camat Lepar Pongok, Feri Edward appreciated PT Timah Tbk who had carried out vaccinations for their communities. According to him, vaccination is currently being released to be implemented. "We are grateful to PT Timah for helping the community here. Hopefully, it's not the first and the last. If it can be held in other villages, too," he said.
He is also proud of the village government and the people who have enthusiastically participated in this vaccination. "I feel proud that the people of Penutuk and Tanjung Labu villages and the village government who have presented their communities for vaccination today and the enthusiasm of the community is also extraordinary," he said.
Lepar Pongok Pongok Police Chief Jonathan Silaban said based on Pcare data until Monday (04/10/2021) the achievement of vaccination in Lepar Pongok only reached 39 percent. Of the population of 12 years of age as many as 9,665 people were vaccinated only 3,724 people.
He said the achievement of vaccinations must be improved. For this reason, it is necessary for the cooperation of all parties to speed up this vaccination process. It also continues to educate the community and carry out vaccinations on a pick-up basis with relevant stakeholders.
"People here work as farmers and fishermen. So they think this vaccination is not necessary because they do not go outside. This is what we continue to educate and we carry out vaccinations," he said.

Secretary of Penutuk Village, Widasmara said that the vaccination carried out by PT Timah Tbk can increase the achievement of citizen vaccination. "We thank PT Timah Tbk for organizing vaccinations here. Indeed, there are obstacles to us in carrying out vaccinations because there are people who are afraid, because first the hoax news about vaccines that enter here rather than the vaccine," he said.
According to him, his party has done socialization to the community and vaccination can also be done at Tanjung Labu Health Center. "Today Alahmdullillah is enthusiastic enough people who come. There were about 70 residents from Penutuk village and Tanjung Labu who attended," he concluded.
