PANGKALPINANG -- Blood donors in the context of the PT Timah Tbk Service Month which was held at Graha Timah were enthusiastically welcomed by the public and employees of PT Timah Tbk, Saturday (22/7/2023).
A total of 85 blood bags were collected in the month of service in commemoration of the 47th anniversary of PT Timah Tbk.
PT Timah Tbk collaborated with the PMI Pangkalpinang City Blood Donor Unit (UDD) in carrying out this activity. This blood donor was attended by the general public, employees of PT Timah Tbk, and government agencies.
Along with the blood donors, a mass circumcision activity was also held which was attended by hundreds of participants.
The main director of PT Timah Tbk, Ahmad Dani Virsal saw and talked directly with the blood donor participants.
"Thank you to those who have donated blood. Support from medical personnel and PMI. Blood has become a primary need for all of us. Sometimes at PMI there is often a shortage of blood donors. I often receive WA stating that I need blood. Even certain blood types are difficult to obtain," he said.
"Hopefully what we have donated will get a reward from Allah," he continued.]
One of the blood donor participants, Muhammad Ramadan Ramadhan (51), said that he had come to donate blood.
"It's time to donate blood, I usually go to PMI. Today I got information that there was a blood donor at PT Timah Tbk. So I came straight here and donated blood," he said.
According to him, by participating in blood donors besides being able to help others also to maintain health.
"Our blood donors help others and carry out humanitarian actions. In addition to maintaining the health of our bodies so that they are even fitter," he said.
He hopes that PT Timah Tbk regularly carries out activities like this because the need for blood continues to increase.
In the same vein, one of PT Timah Tbk's employees, Guntur Avriyandi, said that he routinely carries out blood donations in the context of PT Timah Tbk's Service Month.
According to him, this blood donation activity is a form of PT Timah Tbk's commitment to contribute to society. Moreover, the current need for blood continues to grow.
"Blood donation is important to help others. This blood is really needed, especially for patients with certain diseases who routinely have to get blood," he said.
He hopes that PT Timah Tbk will also carry out blood donors more routinely. Because this is a concrete step for the company to help others.
Meanwhile, the PMI Pangkalpinang UDD Administrative Team Restenti said, PT Timah Tbk and PMI Pangkalpinang had collaborated for a long time in carrying out blood donation actions.
"PT Timah Tbk and PMI Pangkalpinang often collaborate in carrying out blood donations. And every blood donation during PT Timah Tbk's service month the participants are always enthusiastic," he said.
According to him, blood donor participants were not only PT Timah Tbk employees but also PT Timah Tbk partners, the general public, and parents of mass circumcision participants.
"This year was fairly enthusiastic, because when PT Timah Tbk held a large number of participants. This activity, was also to help us meet the need for blood. In a day we need about 40 blood bags, the day we collect 85 blood bags," he said.
He hopes that the collaboration with PT Timah Tbk can continue so that it can help PMI Pangkalpinang in meeting its blood needs.
"This mass blood donation can also help us to invite the public to take part in blood donors because usually, many people take part in activities like this. Hopefully, PT Timah Tbk will hold blood donors more regularly," he said. (**)
