BANGKA -- To increase the comfort of the congregation in worshiping, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to the At Taqwa Mosque located in Kalan Timah Raya, Nangnung, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, Wednesday (24/8/2022).
This assistance will be used for the renovation and development of the mosque area. The reason is that the mosque which has been standing for decades has suffered some damage so that the mosque management renovates it.
The chairman of At Taqwa Nangnung Mosque, Umar Syahrial, said that the mosque was not completely renovated, only certain parts. The reason is, to renovate the total cost is not small. So, they prioritize the parts that need improvement.
"This assistance is for renovation and development, we plan to build a place for ablution and widen a mosque. Later it will be adjusted to the new building," said Umar.
He mentioned, this mosque has been standing for a long time even before it was only a wooden mosque. However, in 1997 it was renovated back to what it is today.
According to him, this is not the first time they have received assistance from PT Timah Tbk, because in 2015 PT Timah Tbk also helped them build mosque minarets.
"In the past we were also assisted by PT Timah Tbk to build a mosque minaret, and today we are assisted again. Hopefully PT Timah Tbk will continue to care about helping public facilities such as houses of worship," he said.
