PT Timah Tbk Hands Over Habitable Houses for Kulur Villagers

*Edison is happy and touched to have a new house that doesn't leak anymore

CENTRAL BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk once again handed over a livable housing (RTLH) for the community in the company's operational area. This time it was Edison's (44) turn, a resident of Kulur Village, Lubuk Besar District, to receive RLH from PT Timah Tbk.

This livable house from PT Timah Tbk for the married couple Edison and Sutiawati was handed over directly by the Regent of Central Bangka Algafry Rahman together with the Head of Mining and Transportation Supervision of Central Bangka, Anderi witnessed by the community and the Kulur Village Government, Thursday (8/9/2022).

Edison said he was very happy to have a decent house for his little family to live in. They are no longer worried about leaks when it rains, and are not afraid of their house collapsing.

For Edison, having a permanent home is like a dream, as a day laborer who only takes wages in other people's gardens, the income he earns can only meet his daily needs.

"I'm happy, sad, that's how it feels. At first I didn't think this house would be built like this. Because if I use my own funds, it's impossible, my income from taking wages is only enough to eat," he said after receiving a livable house from PT. Timah Tbk.

Edison said that he and his wife are very grateful because now they can live in a more decent place.

"Alhamdulillah, when I saw that the house was tiled, there was a ceiling, it didn't leak anymore. Don't worry anymore if it rains. Thank you to PT Timah Tbk for helping me and my family. Hopefully it will continue to progress," he said with a smile.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Central Bangka, Algafry Rahman said that his party was grateful that PT Timah Tbk had synergized to improve the welfare of the community, one of which was through livable housing.

According to him, this livable house is not only in Kulur Village, it has also been handed over to the people of Kepola Village. He hopes that in the future this synergy can be established so that more people are helped.

"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for what the community has prayed for, that PT Timah Tbk always provides the best for the community, we can feel it. Especially the people of Central Bangka have received livability from PT Timah Tbk several times," he said.

He said that decent housing plays an important role in improving the welfare and health of the community.

"In Central Bangka, there are around 9,000 houses that still need assistance to become livable houses. Gradually we are doing this, because this RLH is a support to create a healthy and prosperous society. We are grateful to get support from PT Timah Tbk to create decent houses livable for residents. This livable house is important, because my house is my heaven, "he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Kulur Village, Dori Faisal, said that Edison's house was indeed worthy of repair because of its almost collapsed condition, besides that Edison was one of the economically disadvantaged residents.

"Pak Edison is one of the recipients of PKH, so it is true and appropriate that he needs to get housing assistance, especially since his house almost collapsed," he said.

He hopes that in the future PT Timah Tbk can continue to synergize with the Village Government to help people in need.

"In addition to RLH, PT Timah Tbk also helps village ambulances and a lot of assistance has been given to the community in Kulur Village," he said.
