PT Timah Tbk Hands Over Evacuation Equipment for Victims of the Eruption of Mount Semeru

*PT Timah Tbk's ERG is Still Decreasing Evacuation

LUMAJANG – The Joint Team is still carrying out the evacuation process for victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru. The Emergency Response Group (ERG) team of PT Timah Tbk is also still struggling to evacuate and deal with the aftermath of the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java.

Coordinator of the ERG Team of PT Timah Tbk in the Semeru disaster, Guntur Avriyandi explained that the ERG Team of PT Timah Tbk joined the Energy and Mineral Resources Disaster Preparedness Command Post and was also involved in evacuating disaster victims.

“Today ERG PT Timah Tbk joined the SRU I team to evacuate the Kajar Kuning area, Curah Koboan. The distance between the Command Post in Umbul Sari Village to the location is about 5 km, to reach the location you have to use a double cabin car because the location is muddy and sandy," said Guntur, Thursday (9/12/2021).

He said that today's evacuation had begun at 05.30 AM but at 11.00 AM the evacuation was stopped due to subsequent eruptions. Currently, the rainy weather is also quite difficult for the evacuation process.

"The ERG team who joined the evacuation team, there were four people who joined the joint Sar Team, while the medics joined the team from the Lumajang Health Service to help patients in evacuation," he said.

Furthermore, Guntur said that currently, the logistics team of PT Timah Tbk is also adding logistical assistance such as adult clothes and equipment to support evacuation such as rods, hoes, and shovels.

“This evacuation was carried out in the ruins, so the evacuators needed hoes, shovels, and also bows. Our team has prepared it, while it is still on the way, it will be handed over to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Command Post," he continued.

Previously, the ERG Team of PT Timah Tbk brought 10 thousand pieces of masks and medicines needed by the victims. In addition, they also carry logistical needs such as blankets, baby equipment, and other necessities. (**)
