BANGKA -- To make it easier for the residents of Air Abik Hamlet, Gunung Muda Village, Belinyu District to have funerals for residents, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance for the arrangement of burial places (TPU) in the hamlet.
The head of Air Abik Hamlet, Apriyanto, said that his party took the initiative to make a grave because they had experienced problems when one of their residents died. This is because the TPU in their hamlet is quite far away.
"We just built this TPU in 2022, but previously there was a funeral here. Because there used to be the first Gebong, and there the occupants were also buried, there are three graves there," he said.
He said the newly built public cemetery is a burial place for Muslims. Previously, in the hamlet, they already had a cemetery but it was a traditional cemetery. Meanwhile, for Muslim residents, the cemetery is only in Gunung Muda Village, which is quite far away.
"For the TPU itself, residents can already use it, and we have buried our residents at the TPU. And then we don't have to go far to bury our citizens. Because, previously we had to have a funeral in Gunung Muda Village, and that was quite far away," said Apriyanto.
He is grateful for the assistance from PT Timah Tbk because, with this assistance, they can make arrangements for the TPU to be built.
"The area of ??this TPU is approximately 2 hectares, and Insha Allah we will do a perimeter fencing, in order to protect it from wild animals, for example, and what is clear is that it is more orderly, of course," he said.
Apart from making arrangements, with the help of PT Timah Tbk, his party also plans to fence off this area and build a halfway house to store funeral equipment.
"With this assistance, of course, we can move to work on this TPU, because please understand that if we use self-help funds, we don't know when we can finish it," he stated. (**)
