PT Timah Tbk Foster Partner 'RJ Builder' Successfully Runs Carpentry Business

PANGKALPINANG – Slowly but surely, thanks to his perseverance and hard work, Eri Ramadhan (39) has successfully run a carpentry business with the brand 'RJ Artisan'. This fostered partner of PT Timah Tbk has been in the carpentry business for more than seven years.

The man who is often called Jhon Tukang continues to develop his business, he even now has a workshop to develop various products according to consumer needs.

Assisted by several colleagues, they continue to develop their business, not only providing carpentry services. RJ Builder also provides consulting services for new home construction and renovations, electrical installations, and providing sills, bricks, and trellis.

In addition, they also offer office building maintenance services, provide manufacturing various types of furniture, and archery.

“RJ Artisan or artisan king, which means we do everything about carpentry. This business has been running for about seven years. But in the world of carpentry itself it has been a long time ago," he said.

Jhon said that at first he only worked with other people, and from his income, he saved to build the business he is in.

“From there, I started saving to build this business. From the proceeds from the savings, I started buying equipment one by one, and thank God this workshop was formed," said Jhon.

Maintaining the trust of consumers is a priority for Jhon. Because he doesn't want to disappoint his customers.

“Since the founding of this workshop, I have invited several friends to join here. We summarize them as one, such as carpenters and trellis. The goal is, when we get an order for housework, our customers can order a package for their house building from us," he said.

According to him, if they don't do it themselves, they are afraid that the quality will not be in accordance with the wishes of consumers so it will have an impact on consumer confidence. However, if they do everything themselves, they can control the quality of the goods.

"We have to maintain customer trust, the main thing is that the service is as good as possible. We also dare to provide guarantees for our products. We have previously ordered from other people, but the people who get the money, we are the ones who get bad, because the results are not satisfactory, " he said.

The quality and trust that Jhon has placed in his customers have made his business increasingly known. Their customers come from various regions such as South Bangka, West Bangka, and various other areas.

"We are working on building houses from zero to ready for habitation," he said.

According to John, running this business is not always smooth, there are several incidents that make them have to incur losses. Nevertheless, it does not necessarily make him give up.

"Someone ordered a frame to be made, the frame was already finished, but it was not picked up, instead it disappeared without a word. Yes, that's the risk of doing business. Not to mention if raw materials are piling up, there are no orders yet, so capital death is the term," he said.

Armed with this experience, Jhon dared himself to become a fostered partner of PT Timah Tbk so he could develop his business.

“It's only been one year since I became a development partner. And thank God, the capital provided by PT Timah, I used it to purchase raw materials such as wood, iron, and also the addition of masonry equipment," he said.

Jhon felt many benefits after becoming a fostered partner of PT Timah Tbk, such as being more flexible in developing his business. They no longer worry about capital and raw material issues.

"By becoming PT Timah's fostered partners, our capital turnover is faster. Previously, we had problems with capital and did not dare stock up on raw materials such as wood for fear of running out of capital. But now we can begin to freely stock raw materials," he stated. (**)
