PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk has once again distributed food assistance to residents affected by tidal flooding in Opas Indah Subdistrict, Pangkalpinang City, on Tuesday (December 9, 2025).
Together with Pangkalpinang Deputy Mayor Dessy Ayutrisna, Head of the Pangkalpinang Social Affairs Office Khotaman Barka, and members of the local government and Forkopimda, PT TIMAH Tbk’s Department Head of TJSL, Risal Barung Mangontan, directly handed over food packages to affected residents.
A total of 330 residents in Opas Indah Subdistrict, spread across RT 01, 02, 03, and 04, were affected by tidal flooding. Water levels reached up to 50 cm, disrupting residents’ daily activities.
In addition to Pangkalpinang City, PT TIMAH Tbk also distributed food packages to victims of tidal flooding in Mentok District, West Bangka Regency.
In Bangka Regency, the member of MIND ID the Indonesian Mining Industry Holding also provided ready-to-eat meals to affected communities in the Nelayan 1, Nelayan 2, and Cokro neighborhoods.

Pangkalpinang Deputy Mayor Dessy Ayutrisna appreciated PT TIMAH Tbk’s quick response in helping meet the food needs of residents affected by the tidal floods. She hopes the assistance will ease the burden on those impacted.
“Food packages from PT TIMAH Tbk for residents of Opas who were affected by the tidal flood—thank you to PT TIMAH Tbk for showing such care. Our community is greatly helped by this support,” Dessy said.
She also urged residents to remain alert, as tidal flooding is forecasted to occur again, especially since water levels have continued to rise each year.
“We ask the community to stay vigilant because another high tide is expected. Keep the environment clean and avoid littering. The government, together with relevant stakeholders, is working on long-term solutions to this issue,” she added.
PT TIMAH Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said the company collaborates with local governments to assist communities affected by disasters, especially within its operational areas.
According to Anggi, PT TIMAH Tbk consistently strives to respond quickly to disaster situations through collaboration with local governments and stakeholders. This is part of the company’s social responsibility to ensure that basic needs are met during emergencies.
“PT TIMAH Tbk, together with local governments, is taking swift action to help communities affected by tidal flooding. We aim to ensure that the assistance provided helps meet residents’ essential food needs,” Anggi said.
One of the aid recipients, Siti, shared that her home had been flooded for three days during the high tide, with water reaching nearly waist-deep.
“Thank God for the food package from PT TIMAH Tbk. This really helps us, especially since we’ve been flooded for several days. When the water recedes, we can cook again. This year feels like the worst because the water level keeps rising,” she said. (*)
