PT Timah Tbk Distributes Basic Food to the Public Kitchen for People Who Affected Flood in Pangkalpinang

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk handed over food aid to public kitchens for people who affected flood in the Tuatunu Village and Jerambah Hanging Village, Pangkalpinang City, Wednesday (11/24/2021).

The food items provided in the form of hundreds of kilograms of rice, cooking oil, tea, instant noodles and thousands of eggs are expected to ease the burden of flood affected.

The public kitchen, which was established by the Pangkalpinang City Social Service, prepares food for the people who affected flood. Later, these foodstuffs will be distributed in public kitchens to people who affected flood

The Head of the Pangkalpinang Disaster Department, Sunar, said that this basic food assistance was really needed because at this time many residents were still staying at home.

According to him, currently the number of affected residents is 441 people who occupy 167 houses. There are four flood points RT 10 and RT 4 Tua Tunu Village, RT 6 and RT 7 Jerambah Hanging Village.
With a flood height of about 50-70 cm.

"This food is really needed in public kitchens which will later be distributed to people who affected flood' homes. Some residents are still living in their homes," he said.

According to him, this public kitchen will last until the flood recedes, so food is really needed.

"Hopefully tomorrow it will subside, some residents will evacuate and some will stay at home because there are four RTs where the flood is located. Food is still being dropped from public kitchens to be distributed to residents," he said.

He also appreciated PT Timah Tbk's quick response in helping the people affected by this disaster.

Meanwhile, Head of RT 10 Tuatunu Comfortable Adinata said that the flood had hit the residents' settlements since last night. So people have fled to save themselves.

"Last night, the flood began, some residents fled to neighboring houses which did not flood and some went to relatives' houses. The condition has not subsided, hopefully it will subside tomorrow morning," he said.

He is grateful for the food assistance from PT Timah Tbk, because their residents have not been able to return to their activities, so food is still supplied from public kitchens.

"Alhamdulillah, there is assistance from PT Timah, this is very helpful for our residents. Because it is for food for residents affected by the flood. This is really needed by our residents," he said. (**)
