PT TIMAH Tbk Continues to Support Residents Affected by Tidal Flooding in Pangkalpinang

PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk once again demonstrated its concern for residents affected by tidal flooding. After previously distributing food packages to residents in Opas Indah, the company continued its swift response by providing additional assistance to residents in Gedung Nasional and Rejosari, Pangkalpinang City, on Wednesday (December 10, 2025).

A total of 500 food packages were symbolically handed over by Pangkalpinang Deputy Mayor Dessy Ayutrisna, Head of the Social Affairs Office Khotaman Barka, and Department Head of TJSL PT TIMAH Tbk Risal Barung Mangontan to Gedung Nasional Village Head Suwanti, Rejosari Village Head Deddi Chandra, and Pangkalbalam Subdistrict Head Purnamawan.

The aid was then immediately distributed to residents whose homes and daily activities were disrupted by the tidal flooding. The village heads were present to ensure the assistance reached the affected community directly.

Earlier, PT TIMAH Tbk had distributed 330 food packages to residents in Opas Indah on Tuesday (December 9, 2025).

The high intensity of rainfall in Pangkalpinang in recent days has worsened the tidal flooding, expanding the affected areas and disrupting residents’ daily activities, including impacting health and children's school activities.

Deputy Mayor of Pangkalpinang, Dessy Ayutrisna, expressed her appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk’s continued support for residents.

“We would like to thank PT TIMAH Tbk for its concern for the people affected by the recurring tidal floods. We could see how happy the residents were when receiving the food packages. May the good efforts of PT TIMAH Tbk bring blessings not only to the company but also to the people of Pangkalpinang,” she said.

Meanwhile, Pangkalbalam Subdistrict Head Purnamawan explained that this year’s tidal flooding affected a wider area than in previous years.

“Tidal flooding occurs in our area every year because the land is low. This year, due to higher rainfall than usual, the affected area is wider. A total of seven neighborhood units were impacted. This has disrupted residents’ activities, especially children who are currently taking exams, many of whom cannot attend school due to limited access and unstable health conditions,” he explained.

He added that the need for food and logistical support has become increasingly urgent. Therefore, assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk has been very helpful for residents who face flooding almost every day.

“Alhamdulillah, PT TIMAH Tbk and the government are working together to help our residents. The community’s enthusiasm is evident; many came early in the morning to receive assistance. PT TIMAH Tbk has been working with the Pangkalpinang City Government for many years, not only this time,” he added.

Firda, a resident of Rejosari who received assistance, described the condition of her home, which was damaged by the tidal flooding.

“The floods caused the tiles in our house to crack, and many children have been experiencing rashes due to the floodwater. Water comes in almost every day, so we constantly clean to prevent further damage. Alhamdulillah, PT TIMAH Tbk provided food packages today, which really eases our burden,” she said.

PT TIMAH Tbk has also provided assistance to tidal flood–affected residents in West Bangka Regency and Bangka Regency.
