PT TIMAH Tbk Consistently Supports the Development of Islamic Boarding Schools and Santri Education Around Mining Areas

PANGKALPINANG — As a form of commitment to supporting religious education and fostering young generations with strong character, PT TIMAH Tbk continuously provides assistance to Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) in its operational areas.

PT TIMAH Tbk’s support includes improving educational facilities and infrastructure in Islamic boarding schools, constructing new pesantren buildings, and providing financial support for santri (students) education within the company’s operational regions.

This assistance is part of PT TIMAH Tbk’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which focuses on education and religious development. Through this program, PT TIMAH Tbk contributes to creating a conducive educational environment and supporting the spiritual growth of santri.

One of the beneficiaries of PT TIMAH Tbk’s assistance is the Cahaya Qolbu Belitung Foundation, which has started establishing An-Nur Islamic Boarding School in Padang Village, Manggar District, East Belitung Regency.

The head of the Cahaya Qolbu Belitung Foundation, Mitra Novalanda Izhar, stated that the assistance from PT TIMAH will be used to build a musala (small prayer room) that will serve as a facility for learning and worship for both the boarding school community and nearby residents.

“This pesantren aims to nurture a young generation that excels academically and possesses good morals (BerAKHLAK). Moreover, there are still very few pesantren on Belitung Island. In East Belitung, students who wish to study at a pesantren often have to go to Tanjungpandan or even off the island,” he said.

He expressed his appreciation to PT TIMAH for its cooperation in helping establish the boarding school that will educate future generations.

“Thank you to PT TIMAH. May this become a continuous act of charity (amal jariyah) for everyone involved. This support is very helpful for building the musala,” he added.

Similarly, Ust. M. Gofi Kurniawan Lc, the head of Ma’had Tahfizul Quran Daarul Iman, expressed his gratitude to PT TIMAH for its concern toward Islamic education in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

“Thank you, PT TIMAH, for providing assistance to our foundation. We will use the support as intended so that our santriand santriwati can study more comfortably at the boarding school,” he said.

He explained that the assistance from PT TIMAH will be used to develop educational facilities for the students.

Meanwhile, Samiah, the head of the Khodijah Center Madani Foundation, mentioned that this is the second time PT TIMAH Tbk has assisted their pesantren. Previously, the company supported the construction of the boarding school, and now it is providing aid for building a mosque.

The mosque’s construction is intended not only as a place of worship but also to serve as a learning center for santri and for other religious activities. According to Samiah, there are currently 73 santriwati studying at the pesantren, and in the afternoon, about 100 children attend Quran classes.

“There are 73 santriwati and about 100 children attending TPQ. Our small musala can no longer accommodate everyone — some even study on the terrace. After receiving a donated plot of land next to us, we began building a mosque, which is still under construction,” she explained.

“PT TIMAH Tbk has been truly extraordinary in contributing to education. We hope the company will continue to expand its positive impact on the field of education,” she concluded. (*)
