PT TIMAH Tbk Builds 11 Livable Homes in 2025, Driving Poverty Alleviation in Operational Areas

PANGKALPINANG — As part of its commitment to improving quality of life and making a tangible contribution to poverty alleviation, PT TIMAH Tbk, through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, will build 11 livable housing units in the company’s operational areas in 2025.

This program is part of PT TIMAH Tbk’s ongoing efforts to support community welfare, particularly for low-income families who are in urgent need of decent, safe, and comfortable housing.

The dozen livable homes are being constructed in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Riau Islands Province. PT TIMAH Tbk is collaborating with various parties, including the Belitung District Attorney’s Office, Military District Command (Kodim) 0317, and local communities.

The livable housing assistance is a routine program implemented by the company and also targets residents affected by disasters whose homes have been damaged.

Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT TIMAH Tbk, stated that the construction of these livable homes is part of the company’s efforts to support the achievement of sustainable development in its operational areas, particularly in poverty alleviation and community empowerment.

“The livable housing assistance program is a long-term social investment that not only builds physical housing, but also strengthens hope and the quality of life of beneficiary families. The company is committed to continuously delivering real and measurable contributions to communities around its operational areas,” said Anggi.

The presence of livable homes not only has a direct impact on the physical condition of housing, but also brings social and psychological changes for beneficiaries. Some of the expected benefits include improved family health, reduced risk of disease caused by unhealthy housing environments, and increased family resilience.

In addition, this program also encourages local economic growth through the involvement of workers from surrounding communities, thereby supporting economic circulation in the company’s operational areas.

One of the beneficiaries of PT TIMAH Tbk’s livable housing program, Nasir, a resident of Gemuruh Village, Bukit Senang, Kundur District, said he can finally sleep peacefully and comfortably after his house was renovated by PT Timah in collaboration with Kodim 0317/TBK.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to PT Timah, which worked together with Kodim 0317/TBK to renovate my house. I can now sleep peacefully and comfortably. Thank you very much,” he said.

Similarly, Aling, a resident of Pangkalan Baru Village, Central Bangka Regency, expressed his gratitude and happiness with a trembling voice. He admitted that he never expected to receive a new livable home.

“I am extremely happy to receive a new home from PT TIMAH Tbk. I have long hoped that my house could be repaired, but PT TIMAH instead built me a brand-new house,” said Aling. (*)
