PT Timah Tbk Assists Ziya Shakila's Medical Expenses for Lalang Villagers, Manggar District

EAST BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk assisted to reduce the cost of treatment for Ziya Shakila, a resident of Lalang Village, Manggar District, East Belitung.

Ziya Shakila was diagnosed with an illness ROP (Retinopathy of Premature) when she was 3 months old and currently, Ziya is 1 year old.

ROP (Retinopathy of Premature) is an eye disorder that can cause blindness and usually occurs in premature babies with low birth weight.

Ziya Shakila's parents, Desi, said that Ziya was diagnosed with eye pain at the age of 3 months, but since the age of 1 month, they have wanted to do an eye screening but were advised by the doctor at the age of 3 months.

Ziya is a twin born prematurely.

"When checked, it turned out to be ROP, and was referred to Jakarta," said Desi.

Desi explained that they received a referral to Jakarta in December 2021, but they left in January 2022.

"And at that time Ziya's retina was detached, then her brother ROP stage 4, but in Jakarta, it can still be operated on," she explained.

Then, Ziya's sister underwent surgery and Ziya only did an examination, then they were allowed to return to Belitung, but every three months they had a check-up.

In addition, while checking regularly, they try to find the best way for their child. Then they get information that in Surabaya some can treat, but do not receive BPJS services.

"Currently the condition of the child has not responded to his eyes, but his physical condition is fine, but the eyes have hampered her activities," she explained.

Desi explained, they kept trying to find the best way, even to the point of selling their motorbikes to fight for their child's recovery. Then they left for Surabaya.

Therefore, the assistance of PT Timah Tbk helped them to fight for their child's recovery.

"This assistance from PT Timah Tbk will be used to go to Surabaya again for further control," she explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of Lalang Village, Muhammad, expressed his gratitude to PT Timah Tbk for continuing to help their communities who need assistance.

"I would like to thank PT Timah Tbk for the assistance to our community," he said.
