PT Timah Tbk Assists with Rispa and Yayang's Tuition Fees

CENTRAL BANGKA - Still in the momentum of National Education Day, PT Timah Tbk distributed educational assistance to Rispa Sabili and Yayang Aprilia, residents of Terak Village, Simpang Katis District, Central Bangka Regency.

These two students could not contain their happiness and emotion when they received educational assistance from PT Timah Tbk. The reason is, with this help, they can continue their studies.

These two students are currently studying at the College of Health Sciences in Pangkalpinang City. Even though they were faced with difficult economic conditions, they did not give up on continuing their education.

“Very happy and very grateful to be assisted by PT Timah. Because this assistance can help me to continue my aspirations," said Yayang.

Yayang said that economically it was difficult for them to be able to continue their studies. Moreover, her father could no longer make a living because of her health condition. However, armed with determination and dreams to be able to change their destiny and make their family happy, they try to go to college.

“Because we are from four siblings, my sister did not graduate from elementary school. So I was determined to stay in college and change the economy and elevate my family," she said.

To help pay for her studies, Yayang also sells cakes. From this business, she can save little by little, but not infrequently his merchandise does not sell well.

"Thank you PT Timah for your assistance, I hope PT Timah will continue to progress and continue to be able to help people who are less fortunate. And hopefully, in the future PT Timah can help again," she hoped.

The parents of Yayang Arifin (65) said that he kept thinking that his daughter could still go to college. After experiencing an accident while working to clear the land, his eyes were hit by a thorn so that he could no longer see.

"As a parent, I also have thoughts, how can my child go to college, while there is no cost. Moreover, I can no longer make a living, because I can no longer see. And I experienced this condition about four years ago," he said.

Apart from that, he was very happy and proud of his daughter, because she had high intentions and enthusiasm for college.

“I am very happy that someone wants to help my child to continue to study in college. Hopefully, PT Timah will continue to be victorious, and can continue to help my child to go to school," said Arifin.

Meanwhile, Rispa Sabili (21), a resident of Jalan Air Quail, Terak Village, is also very happy with the assistance from PT Timah Tbk. The reason is that this assistance will be used to pay tuition arrears.

"Thank God, apart from PT Timah, there was also assistance from other agencies in helping me to continue my education. Apart from that, I also sell cakes, to supplement my tuition fees. Previously, I also worked as a salesperson, but because I lacked focus on pursuing targets due to being in college, I finally quit," she said.

Rispa's high intention to study in college is because she wants to make her parents happy, and she doesn't want her education to end in the middle of the road.

"I want to continue studying in college, even though I don't know what will happen in the future and what the cost will be, the most important thing is to finish my studies, I don't want to drop out halfway and I want to make my parents happy," said Rispa.

In line with Rispa's mother, Fatimah (48) said that she continues to try to finance her child's studies.

“Every day I pan for tin in the Air Mesu Village area. Even though it rained we still went to work. The results are erratic, sometimes a pound, sometimes seven ounces, at most a pound, and then rarely. Yes, it is enough to buy rice and for daily living expenses," she said.

She hopes that through education, the future of her child can be better than herself.

"We don't see this as a burden, but for us, it is an obligation as parents to send our children to school. No matter what the cost, we will keep trying, don't let our children end up like us. It's just us who are having a hard time, don't let them also have a hard time like us. Anyway, we have to go to school and we want to see our children succeed," she said. (*)
