BANGKA BARAT -- Supporting the completion of the construction of the Al Munawaroh Mosque, Tanjung Niur Village, Tempilang District, West Bangka Regency PT Timah Tbk handed over cash assistance to the Al Munawaroh Foundation Management, Monday (8/11/2021).
The mosque, which was built in 2014, has not been fully completed due to cost constraints. Where previously the construction of this mosque relied on funds from non-governmental organizations and the assistance of various parties.
"This is a newly built mosque, the old mosque was next door. PT TIMAH also helped during the initial construction around 2014. At first, we only wanted to renovate the old mosque but at that time because there was assistance from PT Timah Tbk we agreed to build a new mosque which is wider," said the chairman of Al Munawaroh Mosque, Muhammad.
He said, currently the mosque can accommodate hundreds of worshipers. Where in Tanjung Niur Hamlet there is only one mosque and one prayer room for the community's place of worship.
"From the initial capital assistance from PT Timah Tbk, we can build a mosque that is now wider, we buy the land first and then we can build it. Even this is not finished, if there is assistance, we will continue," he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Al Munawaroh Foundation, Hadri said the assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk would be used to build two toilet units and a place for ablution. The reason is, the current toilet is no longer feasible so it should have been repaired.
"I want to build a toilet because the toilet is no longer feasible. If there are leftovers, I want to make a place for ablution too. So that later worshipers will also be more comfortable," said Hadri.
According to him, Al Munawaroh Mosque is not only a place of worship but also used for community recitation activities.
The Acting Head of Tanjung Niur Village, Sukarman estimates that the construction of this mosque is only about 70 percent, so it still needs a lot of help.
"We appreciate PT Timah for helping the construction of this mosque because this is really needed so that the mosque can be completed quickly," he said.
According to him, PT Timah Tbk has often helped the community, not only for mosques, but PT Timah Tbk has also made boat moorings for fishermen and provided social assistance.
"Thank God PT Timah cares about the people here, PT Timah also provides social assistance to the community, helps build boat moorings, we hope this synergy can continue," he said.
Similarly, the Tempilang Subdistrict Head Siswo asked that the assistance provided by PT Timah Tbk could be utilized as well as possible.
"Hopefully this can be used as well as possible for the completion of the mosque and we hope that PT Timah Tbk will continue to help the community," he concluded. (**)
