BELITUNG - PT Timah Tbk helped build the Al-Barkah Mosque, Piak Aik Hamlet, Sijuk Village, Sijuk District, Belitung Regency.
Representatives of PT Timah Tbk handed over the assistance to the mosque management accompanied by Sijuk Sub-District Head Febriansyah and Sijuk Village Head, Nasri.
The Head of Mosque Development, Eka Satria said the construction of the new mosque will start in 2022. Meanwhile, the old mosque will be demolished and a parking lot will be used later.
"Our obstacle is indeed a funding problem during this construction," said Eka Satria.
According to Eka, the condition of the old mosque was no longer able to accommodate many congregations, especially since the number of worshipers continued to increase. Thus, the mosque administrators built a new mosque with a larger capacity than before.
"The old mosque building was like a surau and very small," he said.
He said the assistance from PT Timah Tbk would be used to support the construction of the top of the mosque and the dome of the mosque.
"So the assistance will be used to pay for the installation of roofs such as domes and others," he explained.
Pihalmua appreciates PT Timah Tbk's assistance, which has cared for and participated in the construction of this mosque.
"PT Timah Tbk's assistance is quite large, and we hope that in the future PT Timah Tbk will continue to support us in filling the congregation's equipment such as prayer mats and others," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Sijuk sub-district, Ferbriansyah, said that the construction of the mosque was indeed still constrained by the budget, moreover, the construction was only based on community self-help and other contributions from participation.
"The point is that the committee is submitting proposals and opening fields of worship to those who are able to help build this mosque," he said.
Therefore, he appreciates that PT Timah Tbk helped build a mosque in the Sijuk District.
"We thank PT Timah Tbk for routinely supporting activities in our area, and we wish PT Timah Tbk more and more success in the future," he said. (*)
