KARIMUN -- As part of its commitment to supporting sports development and nurturing the younger generation, PT Timah has provided assistance to Teluk Uma Youth Football in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province.
PT Timah Tbk delivered support to help provide additional training equipment and cover participation costs for Teluk Uma Youth Football members who will compete in Batam.
This initiative reflects PT Timah Tbk’s effort to contribute to developing young potential athletes while also promoting community sports. Teluk Uma Youth Football is a soccer club that trains children from as young as 6 years old up to 16 years old, aiming to guide young people in developing their talents in sports.
PT Timah Tbk’s support for this soccer championship is also expected to provide a platform for children to sharpen their skills, practice sportsmanship, and cultivate a healthy competitive spirit from an early age.
Sri Hajarani, Deputy Treasurer of Teluk Uma Youth Football, said PT Timah Tbk’s support is vital for improving training quality. She explained that so far, they have relied solely on community self-funding to purchase equipment and participate in competitions to enhance the children’s abilities.
“This assistance means a lot to us because the children are now more motivated to practice as we will use it to buy training equipment such as cones and others. Until now, we have only practiced with very limited equipment,” she said.
She added that the support from PT Timah Tbk will also be used for operational costs of the upcoming tournament in Batam. Competing in tournaments, she emphasized, is an important part of boosting sportsmanship and sharpening skills.
“Up until now, we have only joined tournaments held in Karimun. This will be the first time we participate outside Karimun, in Batam. We are very grateful for PT Timah’s support, which has motivated the children to practice harder and improve their skills,” she said.
