BELITUNG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has once again provided assistance for a place of worship as part of its commitment to improving religious facilities in its operational areas. This time, the company extended support to Nurul Huda Mosque in Lesung Batang Subdistrict, Tanjungpandan District, Belitung Regency.
The assistance is part of PT TIMAH’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program, which supports community social and religious activities, including the development and improvement of worship facilities.
Nurul Huda Mosque Chairman Suwandi said the assistance from PT TIMAH is being used to support the construction of several supporting facilities for worshippers, including an ablution area, a kitchen, and a storage room.
"Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful for PT TIMAH’s support. This assistance has been extremely helpful in continuing the construction, particularly the installation of roofing for the ablution area, kitchen, and storage room that we are currently building," Suwandi said.
He explained that the construction has been carried out through community self-help efforts and donations from contributors. Previously, the area being developed was an unused and neglected piece of land.
"Rather than leaving it abandoned, we cleaned it up and transformed it into facilities that the mosque needs," he said.

According to Suwandi, Nurul Huda Mosque already had an ablution area. However, as the number of worshippers and religious activities has continued to grow, the mosque management decided to expand the facilities to better serve the congregation.
"Once the roofing is completed, we can continue with the remaining construction work. The final stage will include finishing touches such as installing floor tiles," he explained.
Nurul Huda Mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a center for various religious and community development activities. Every week, the mosque regularly hosts Islamic study sessions (majelis taklim) for women and the wider community.
In addition, the mosque provides Qur'an learning classes for children and regularly organizes Islamic lectures to enhance the community’s religious understanding and improve the quality of worship.
"This mosque is not only used for congregational prayers, but also serves as a place where children learn to read the Qur'an, where Islamic study groups gather, and where regular religious lectures are held to deepen our understanding of Islam," he said.
Suwandi expressed his hope that PT TIMAH will continue to grow and prosper so that it can keep benefiting communities through its various social programs, including support for the development of religious facilities and community empowerment initiatives around the mosque.
"We hope PT TIMAH continues to grow and prosper and remains committed to supporting the community—not only by helping develop religious facilities but also by contributing to the economic empowerment of the people living around the mosque," he concluded. (*)
