PT Timah Supports the Development of a Food Court in Bencah Village, Boosting the Local Economy

BANGKA SELATAN -- PT Timah Tbk once again demonstrated its commitment to driving community economic growth, particularly in villages, through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.

This time, the company provided support for the construction of a Food Court (Pujasera) in Bencah Village, South Bangka Regency, on Friday (August 15, 2025).

The food court is being developed as a new trade center that is expected to serve as an economic driver for the village. With this facility, residents now have a proper space to sell various local products, ranging from agricultural produce and fish catches to traditional culinary specialties.

The Head of Bencah Village, Heri Purnomo, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s support. According to him, the presence of the food court will have a real impact on improving the village’s economy while also increasing Village Original Revenue (PAD).

“This food court was indeed built to support the community’s economy, allowing residents to trade here while also contributing to the village’s PAD. Alhamdulillah, the Bencah Village market currently generates around IDR 100 million per year,” Heri explained.

Furthermore, Heri said that the food court will be optimized to operate both during the day and at night. In the daytime, it will focus on selling daily necessities, while in the evening it will transform into a culinary hub and gathering place for young people with a modern coffee shop concept.

“The economic turnover here can reach tens of millions of rupiah daily, as buyers also come from surrounding villages. Local agricultural products and fish catches are widely sold here, bringing tremendous benefits to the community,” he added.

The Bencah Village Government expressed gratitude to PT Timah and hopes that this collaboration will continue, not only in physical development but also in supporting social activities, especially for the younger generation.

“We hope PT Timah can also support youth activities such as the youth organization Karang Taruna. Currently, the village government together with Karang Taruna is holding the Bencah Cup soccer tournament, and we hope PT Timah can also take part,” Heri concluded.

With the establishment of this food court, Bencah Village is optimistic about revitalizing its local economy while also serving as an inspiration for other villages to continue innovating and utilizing local potential to achieve economic independence. (*)
