BELITUNG -- To support community social and religious activities, PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has provided financial assistance for the construction of Al Ikhlas Mosque in Air Rayak Village, Tanjungpandan District, Belitung Regency.
The assistance, totaling Rp400 million, was personally handed over by PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk Director of Operations Handy Geniardi to Al Ikhlas Mosque Chairman Agus Sutarman and members of the mosque's management committee on Thursday (October 15, 2026).
The support, provided through PT TIMAH's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, is expected to accelerate the construction of the mosque, which serves as an important center for worship and religious activities in the local community.
Al Ikhlas Mosque Chairman Agus Sutarman explained that the decision to build a new mosque was made because the previous building had sustained various forms of damage, including roof leaks, requiring extensive repairs.
Construction of the new mosque began in August 2026 on a site adjacent to the existing building. The new mosque is designed to be more spacious and is expected to accommodate more than 100 worshippers.
"Thank God, PT TIMAH's assistance has been extremely helpful in accelerating the construction process. We would like to express our gratitude to PT TIMAH and everyone who has supported the development of this place of worship," Agus said.
He expressed his gratitude that the funding request had been approved and fulfilled. According to Agus, the assistance has provided renewed encouragement for the mosque's management committee to continue construction, with the goal of completing the project this year.
In addition to accommodating congregational prayers, the new mosque will also be used for various religious and social activities within the community.
Agus added that the existing mosque remains in use for worship while construction is underway. The management committee hopes the new mosque can be completed soon so that worshippers can use it, particularly during the upcoming Ramadan.
"We hope construction can be completed as planned and that the mosque will soon be ready for use. We also hope it will provide a comfortable place for the community to worship and participate in religious activities," he said.
PT TIMAH has also regularly provided assistance to places of worship across its operational areas in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and Riau Islands Province. (*)
