PT TIMAH Supports Renovation of Al Inayah Mosque’s TPQ and MDA, Providing a Safer Learning Environment for Children

KARIMUN -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has provided assistance to support the renovation of facilities and infrastructure at the Al-Qur’an Education Center (TPQ) and Madrasah Diniyah Awaliyah (MDA) at Al Inayah Mosque in Gemuruh Village, West Kundur District, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province.

The assistance from PT TIMAH was used to repair several damaged facilities. The renovations were considered important as the building is used daily by children to learn the Quran and participate in religious education.

Yulius, Secretary of the Al Inayah Renovation Community Work Committee, said the condition of the TPQ and MDA facilities had previously been concerning. Several parts of the building were damaged, including a collapsed ceiling, missing jalousie windows, and toilet facilities that needed repairs.

"Since it was built around 1987, this is the first time the building has undergone renovation. Some parts had already collapsed, including the ceiling and toilet facilities. Many of the jalousie windows were also missing," Yulius said.

According to him, the condition not only disrupted the children’s comfort while studying but also posed potential safety risks. Some of the damaged and missing window frames even left sharp edges exposed.

"All this time, the children continued to study despite the existing conditions. But when the glass is missing and the frames are sharp, it certainly poses a danger to the children," he said.

The Al Inayah Mosque’s TPQ currently has around 50 children participating in Quran study activities. Meanwhile, the MDA is also attended by around 50 students. The educational activities are supported by teachers who regularly accompany and guide the children.

Yulius said the assistance from PT TIMAH was a breath of fresh air for the administrators and community members who have worked to maintain religious education activities in the area.

"We would like to thank PT TIMAH. The children who study the Quran here have also been praying for PT TIMAH," he said. (*)
