PT TIMAH Supports Portesa Cup 2, Boosting Soccer and Driving the Local MSME Economy in Meranti Islands

MERANTI ISLANDS -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to support sports development and positive community activities, including through its support for the Portesa Cup 2 soccer tournament held at the Portesa Field in Teluk Samak Village, Rangsang District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province.

The soccer tournament was held from July 8 to August 19, 2026, featuring 72 teams from various areas across Meranti Islands Regency and several other parts of Riau Province.

PT TIMAH's support was provided to help cover the operational needs of the tournament, which serves as a platform for local communities to pursue their interests and talents in sports, particularly soccer.

Pebiansyah, Secretary of the Teluk Samak Soccer Sports Association, said Portesa Cup 2 was not only a competition but also aimed to encourage sportsmanship and strengthen the community's enthusiasm for sports.

“The event aims to promote sportsmanship, encourage greater interest in sports, identify promising soccer talent, and provide an opportunity for the community to strengthen social ties,” Pebiansyah said.

The Portesa Cup is not being held for the first time. A similar tournament, Portesa Cup 1, was previously held in 2022. The return of the tournament demonstrates the community's continued efforts to develop a sustainable soccer ecosystem in the region.

In addition to promoting sports activities, Portesa Cup 2 also had a positive impact on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating around the event venue. Pebiansyah said dozens of MSME operators participated by setting up various businesses throughout the tournament.

“Besides promoting sports, this event also helps drive the local economy. Nearly 50 MSMEs participated throughout the event,” he said.

Pebiansyah expressed his appreciation to all parties that supported the successful organization of Portesa Cup 2, including PT TIMAH.

“Thank you to PT TIMAH for its participation and support in making Portesa Cup 2 possible, particularly for helping with the operational needs of the event,” he said.

He hopes that support for community sports activities will continue so that future editions of the Portesa Cup can be organized even better and provide greater benefits to the community.

“Our hope is that PT TIMAH will be able to provide greater support and continue to participate in future Portesa Cup events,” he said. (*)
