PT TIMAH Supports Facilities and Infrastructure Improvements at Masjid Agung Darussalam in East Belitung, Enhancing Worship Comfort for the Community

EAST BELITUNG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has once again provided assistance for the improvement of worship facilities and infrastructure to support the comfort of communities in carrying out religious activities.

This time, PT TIMAH delivered support for facility and infrastructure enhancements at Masjid Agung Darussalam in Manggar District, East Belitung Regency, one of the main centers of worship activities for the local community.

The assistance is expected to improve the comfort of worshippers who use the mosque daily for congregational prayers, religious activities, and various community social events.

Chairman of the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) of Masjid Agung Darussalam, Bani Machtum, said the assistance provided by PT TIMAH greatly helps mosque administrators improve facilities that have long required attention.

“Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful for the assistance from PT TIMAH because it greatly helps improve the comfort of our worshippers. This mosque serves as both a religious and social center for the community,” he said.

According to Bani, Masjid Agung Darussalam is one of the main hubs of religious activities in East Belitung. In addition to hosting the five daily prayers, the mosque regularly serves as a venue for various religious events and Islamic holiday commemorations.

“Even during the five daily prayers, attendance is quite high. In addition, many religious activities organized by both the community and the local government are held here,” he explained.

Despite the mosque’s busy schedule of religious activities, he noted that most facility maintenance has been funded independently through donations from worshippers.

“This is a fairly large mosque, so maintenance costs are also significant. So far, we have carried out improvements gradually using contributions from the congregation,” he said.

Bani explained that the assistance from PT TIMAH will be prioritized for improvements that directly impact worshippers’ comfort, including air conditioning and the renovation of other supporting facilities.

“Our air conditioning facilities have been very limited, even though the number of worshippers is quite large. In addition, the restroom facilities and drainage system will be improved to make them cleaner, more comfortable, and more suitable for use,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude, stating that the assistance will significantly improve the quality of worship facilities available to the community.

“We would like to thank PT TIMAH for paying attention to the needs of the community. Hopefully, this assistance will make worshippers more comfortable and help religious activities run even better,” he said. (*)
