PT TIMAH Supports Education in Central Bangka by Helping Build Literacy Facilities at SMPN 2 Simpang Katis

CENTRAL BANGKA -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to support improvements in the quality of education across its operational areas through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program. One of these initiatives is the construction of literacy facilities for SMPN 2 Simpang Katis in Central Bangka Regency.

The educational infrastructure support provided by PT TIMAH is expected to enhance the availability of learning facilities that serve as spaces for students to develop their creativity, interests, and talents while strengthening the overall learning process.

Adequate educational facilities play an essential role in supporting effective teaching and learning activities. Through this assistance, the school is expected to strengthen its capacity to provide better educational services for its students.

The Principal of SMPN 2 Simpang Katis, R. Budiharto, expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH's support in developing the school's facilities. According to him, the assistance will provide valuable opportunities for students to further develop their potential.

He added that the company's commitment to education reflects its support in helping schools provide facilities that enhance the learning experience.

"With these facilities, students have greater opportunities to develop their potential. The impact of this support is truly invaluable to us," said R. Budiharto.

He explained that the newly developed literacy facility would serve as a space where students can explore their abilities while expressing their interests and talents.

The support was also welcomed by the Chairman of the SMPN 2 Simpang Katis School Committee, Manusta. He said PT TIMAH's assistance has helped ease the school's financial burden in developing educational infrastructure.

According to him, the school's limited budget means that constructing new facilities cannot always be fully funded through the School Operational Assistance (BOS) fund alone.

"If we relied solely on the BOS fund, it would not be sufficient to build this literacy stage. PT TIMAH's support has significantly helped accelerate the development of facilities that will benefit our school," he said.

He also emphasized that collaboration between schools, communities, and the business sector, such as PT TIMAH, is essential to advancing educational infrastructure.

With improved literacy facilities now available, he hopes that students at SMPN 2 Simpang Katis will have greater opportunities to learn, create, and develop both their character and competencies.

"We hope this support will help nurture outstanding students with strong character who are capable of competing both nationally and internationally," he concluded. (*)
