PANGKALPINANG -- Infrastructure is one of the keys to encouraging community economic growth. So infrastructure development is one aspect of PT Timah in implementing Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL).
In 2023, PT Timah supported various infrastructure developments in the company's operational areas in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and Riau Islands Province.
Infrastructure development supported by PT Timah includes repairs to the Nyatoh water demonstration garden road in Gunung Muda Village, Bangka Regency, assistance in the rehabilitation of fishing docks in Bakit Village, assistance in building fishing boat ramps in Tanjung Village, Central Bangka Regency, assistance in installing sloping stones in Kundur Village, Karimun Regency.
Members of the MIND ID mining industry also support infrastructure development in the social sector, such as supporting the construction of the Kabar Good Foundation Orphanage, Bangka Regency, providing drilled wells for the Ar Rahman Mosque, Riau Village, Bangka Regency and supporting the construction of the multi-purpose building at the Aisyah Muntok Orphanage, West Bangka.
PT Timah also supports infrastructure development in the community sports sector, such as assistance with building football facilities, building a semi-indoor futsal field in Bakit Village and supporting the construction of a volleyball field in Air Bulin Village as well as supporting the construction of sports facilities at PSB Gantung.
It is hoped that PT Timah's support in building community infrastructure can support community activities in various sectors such as economic, social and improve the quality of life of the community with sports activities.
Chairman of the Tanjung Sejahtera Fisheries Cooperative, La Ludi (50), who received assistance to build a boat dam in Tanjung Gunung Village, Central Bangka, said that assistance for building the dam is really needed.
This talud is needed by fishermen because the fishermen's mooring pier is often hit by waves which causes the boats docked at the pier to be damaged.
"With this assistance from PT Timah, we feel very helped. And hopefully, it can reduce the impact of waves on fishermen's boats. "In 2022, around three of our fishing boats were damaged by waves," said La Ludi.
According to him, the construction of this riparian dam not only makes things easier for fishermen but also has an impact on other sectors.
"With the talud, we hope that similar incidents will not happen again. "Apart from that, the construction of this talud aims to be a wave breaker as well as a supporting facility for tourism access and also a link between villages," he said. (*)
