BANGKA -- PT TIMAH Tbk, in collaboration with the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government, continues to support education and the development of the potential of children with special needs.
This time, PT TIMAH once again organized a seminar for teachers and parents of children with special needs, held at UPTD State Elementary School (SD Negeri) 1 Riau Silip, Bangka Regency, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Carrying the theme "Not About Being Perfect, But About Living a Meaningful Life," the seminar was attended by 95 participants. The event served as an educational forum for teachers and parents to better understand the needs of children with special needs while exploring ways to help them reach their full potential.
The seminar featured interactive presentations, discussions, and consultation sessions with expert speakers. The speakers included Iin Indriyani from Rumah Indira Consulting and Dr. Rahmadi Iwan Guntoro, Sp.P., who is also the parent of a child with special needs.
Through the seminar, parents were encouraged to understand the importance of appropriate parenting approaches, effective support strategies, and continuous guidance in nurturing the growth and development of children with special needs.
The event was also attended by Acting Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Education Office, Saipul Bakhri; Riau Silip District Head, Sukma Aditya; the Principal of UPTD State Elementary School 1 Riau Silip; teachers; and parents of children with special needs.
Acting Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Education Office, Saipul Bakhri, expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH's initiative in creating an educational platform for teachers and parents of children with special needs.
"We, from the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government, highly appreciate PT TIMAH's initiative in providing an educational forum for teachers and parents of children with special needs. Programs like this need to be expanded so that information and education can reach communities more evenly across the region," Saipul said.
According to him, continuous education is essential to strengthen public understanding, particularly among parents and educators, so they can provide appropriate guidance and support for children with special needs.
Similarly, Riau Silip District Head Sukma Aditya said that the seminar had been eagerly anticipated by teachers and parents of children with special needs in the district.
Currently, there are 123 children with special needs living in Riau Silip District. Therefore, educational activities such as this seminar are considered highly beneficial for both parents and teachers.
"We have been looking forward to educational programs like this, and the response has been very enthusiastic. This seminar is extremely valuable for teachers and parents, providing them with motivation and practical approaches to help children grow through quality education and extraordinary care," he said.
He hopes the knowledge gained from the seminar will serve as valuable guidance for parents in applying parenting methods and support that are tailored to their children's individual needs.
One of the participants, Febri Irawan, who is both a parent and a teacher, welcomed the seminar organized by PT TIMAH. According to him, raising a child with a disability requires patience, knowledge, and strong dedication.
"For us as both teachers and parents, this seminar felt like receiving an unexpected blessing. The expert speakers invited by PT TIMAH have helped us strengthen our understanding and improve the way we support and raise our children," Febri said.
He hopes the knowledge gained during the seminar can be directly applied in supporting the growth and development of children with special needs.
