PT Timah Supports Batu Bedaun Cup Volleyball Tournament, Boosts Community Sports Spirit

BANGKA SELATAN -- PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the development of community sports. This time, the company provided financial assistance to support the Batu Bedaun Cup Volleyball Tournament in South Bangka Regency.

The donation was handed over directly by PT Timah Tbk’s Division Head for the South Bangka Area, Sigit Prabowo, to the Tournament Committee Chairperson, Mas Ayu Kurnia, at the Batu Bedaun Beach Volleyball Court, Rajik Village, Simpang Rimba District, on Tuesday (July 29, 2025).

The handover ceremony was also witnessed by the Simpang Rimba subdistrict head, the village heads of Rajik and Permis, the local youth organization leader, and members of the fishing community.

The tournament is a competition among volleyball communities across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and runs from June 29 to August 15, 2025. A total of 80 teams are participating in the tournament, which is being held in Rajik Village for the first time.

"We are very grateful for PT Timah’s contribution to this event. Hopefully, PT Timah will continue to collaborate and support future youth activities in our area," said the Tournament Chairperson, Mas Ayu Kurnia.

Ayu added that participant enthusiasm has been overwhelming, exceeding the committee's expectations. Teams have come from various areas, including Air Hitam Pangkalpinang, Kelapa Bangka Barat, and Sungkap Bangka Tengah.

"This is a non-Porprov tournament, so we selected participants through a screening process. For Porprov-level athletes, we only allow those who played before 2014," she explained.

Beyond being a sports event, the Batu Bedaun Cup also serves as a platform to promote the tourism potential of Batu Bedaun Beach. The committee hopes to build continued synergy between the local community and PT Timah to support youth activities and the development of the village’s tourism sector.

"This tournament also serves as a tourism education initiative for Permis Village, even though our facilities are still limited. We hope PT Timah will continue to support us in empowering active and productive youth," Ayu added.

Meanwhile, PT Timah's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that PT Timah consistently supports community sports activities in the company's operational areas.

"PT Timah remains committed to supporting social and sports activities in the community. This effort aims to enhance athletic achievements while also improving public health. We hope events like this will help discover future athletes," Anggi said.

PT Timah’s support for community sports is part of its corporate social responsibility program, which aims to foster sportsmanship, strengthen social bonds among residents, and encourage the development of local talent.
