PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to support youth development through its contributions to scouting activities. One such effort is supporting the Bangka Regency Scout Council (Kwartir Cabang/Kwarcab) contingent in attending the 12th National Scout Jamboree (Jamnas XII) 2026 in Cibubur, Jakarta.
PT TIMAH’s support is part of the Company’s efforts to encourage young people to actively develop their potential, build character, and gain valuable experiences that can serve them in the future.
Ujang Supriyanto, Team Official Leader and Vice Chairman for Facilities and Infrastructure of Kwarcab Bangka, said the Bangka Regency contingent is sending two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams to the event.
According to him, the participants were selected through a multi-stage selection process, starting at the school scout group level, followed by the subdistrict level and then the Bangka Regency level.
Of the approximately 82 participants who took part in the selection process, 16 male and 16 female scouts were ultimately selected to represent the Bangka Regency contingent. They come from eight subdistricts and several scout groups across Bangka Regency.
Before departing for the National Jamboree, the participants took part in a training camp for approximately one month, with training sessions held twice a week. Various training materials were provided to prepare them for the national event.
"The children were trained in pioneering techniques, scouting skills, rope work, cooking, first aid, and various other basic scouting activities," Ujang explained.
In addition to scouting skills, the participants also received training on the tourism potential of Bangka Regency. They are expected to serve as tourism ambassadors who can introduce Bangka’s tourism potential when meeting participants from different parts of Indonesia.
Mental development and personal potential were also important components of the training camp. The participants were trained to build self-confidence as well as develop their public speaking skills.
Ujang expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH’s support in helping meet the needs of the contingent, particularly in providing equipment and participant uniforms.
"We would like to thank PT TIMAH. This assistance helped complete the children’s equipment and attributes, such as contingent jackets, hats, and other supplies," he said.
He said support from various parties was essential in ensuring that all participants could attend the National Jamboree. In addition to PT TIMAH, several other parties also provided support, allowing the entire contingent to participate.
"With support like this, the children can depart with more complete equipment. This is very helpful for us," he said.
According to Ujang, PT TIMAH’s support for youth activities is not a new initiative. The Company has previously supported various scouting activities and youth development programs in Bangka Regency.
"We hope this kind of support can continue sustainably because it is part of developing the nation’s younger generation," he said.
He explained that the National Jamboree is an important opportunity for Scout members to learn, interact, and showcase their abilities. Held every five years, the event provides participants with an opportunity to meet scouts from different regions while gaining broader experience.
"The National Jamboree is like a major celebration for Scouts. The children can showcase their potential, represent their region and community with pride, and serve as tourism ambassadors who introduce Bangka Regency," he said.
The 2026 National Scout Jamboree in Cibubur is scheduled to take place from August 13–21, 2026. The event is expected to be attended by tens of thousands of participants from various regions across Indonesia. (*)
