CILEGON — PT Timah Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Timah Industri, continues to demonstrate its commitment to clean energy transition by inaugurating a rooftop solar power plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 303.1 kilowatt peak (kWp) in the Cilegon industrial area on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The development of this solar power plant is part of the strategic steps taken by PT Timah Tbk and its subsidiary PT Timah Industri to support the national agenda of decarbonization and energy transformation. This clean energy project is a collaboration between PT Timah Industri, PT Bukit Energi Investama (a subsidiary of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, serving as the investor), and PT Krakatau Chandra Energi.
The solar plant is projected to generate around 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity per year and reduce carbon emissions by up to 300 tons of CO2 annually. The system is on-grid, connected to PT Krakatau Chandra Energi’s 20 kVA medium-voltage network through a step-down transformer.
The solar facility, inaugurated by PT Timah Industri, is equipped with 522 solar panels from the Jinko Solar brand, each with a peak capacity of 585 watts (Wp).
The inauguration was attended by Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara, Director of Business Development at PT Timah Tbk; Turino Yulianto, Director of Downstreaming and Product Diversification at PT Bukit Asam Tbk; Ria Wardhani Pawan, President Director of PT Timah Industri; and Beverli Binanga, President Director of PT Bukit Energi Investama.
Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara stated that this collaboration is a tangible manifestation of joint efforts to create clean energy.
“We are living the core values of ‘AKHLAK’ through real collaboration to generate clean energy. This partnership is a seed of our joint commitment to sustainable green energy,” he said.
He further explained that the development of the solar power plant demonstrates PT Timah Tbk’s commitment—through its subsidiary PT Timah Industri—to realizing green energy, aligning with the global priorities of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).
“This solar project also presents a promising business opportunity in the future, in line with the government’s Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL). We are also encouraging other PT Timah subsidiaries to start developing products powered by clean solar energy through similar collaborative schemes,” he added.
Meanwhile, Beverli Binanga, President Director of PT Bukit Energi Investama, said this project is a strategic collaboration under the MIND ID Group’s energy transformation initiative.
“This PLTS project is a strategic initiative by PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Timah Industri, and PT Bukit Energi Investama. This partnership reflects the synergy within the MIND ID Group to support the energy transition towards Net Zero Emissions,” she said.
Beverli also expressed her hope that this solar facility will help strengthen national energy resilience.
“Although the capacity may still be relatively small, this is a concrete step toward realizing clean energy in support of Indonesia’s energy security,” she stated.
Muhammad Miftah, PLTS Project Manager at PT Timah Industri, shared that the project has been in development since 2023.
“This solar power plant project started in 2023, continued with development through 2024, and has been operating from January to June 2025,” he explained.
Miftah expressed hope that the solar plant will support the daily operations of PT Timah Industri.
“With the operation of this PLTS, we hope to contribute to PT Timah Industri’s daily operations using clean energy, and help reduce carbon emissions by approximately 260 CO2e per year,” he concluded. (*)
