PT TIMAH Strengthens Youth Creativity, Fosters Creative Ecosystem in Operational Areas

PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting youth creativity development in its operational areas through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.

This program is one of PT TIMAH’s efforts to encourage the younger generation to be more productive, innovative, and capable of developing their potential across various fields, ranging from arts and culture to community-based creative activities.

PT TIMAH has implemented various initiatives to support youth creativity, including providing facilities and infrastructure, community development programs, and creating spaces for young people to enhance their creativity.

The company is also actively supporting youth activities that carry positive values and contribute to the preservation of local culture. Youth involvement in creative activities is expected to strengthen cultural identity while also creating new economic opportunities in the regions.

For example, in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province, PT TIMAH supports young people in participating in the annual “lampu colok” festival as part of efforts to preserve cultural traditions.

During the recent Ramadan, PT TIMAH supported youth groups in West Kundur District, including Ikatan Pemuda/Pemudi Layang, Ikatan Pemuda Kosonk Kobel Darat of Sawang Laut Village, and Himpunan Pemuda Pemudi Mukalimus of Sawang Subdistrict, in building decorative lampu colok gateways for the festival.

The Chairman of Himpunan Pemuda Pemudi Mukalimus, Azyar, expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s contribution in supporting the activity. According to him, the assistance provided greatly helped the community in preparing for the festival, which has become an annual event in Karimun Regency.

“We used this support to prepare for the installation of electric lights, which were set up from the 27th night of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr. This year, we built a mosque-shaped gateway installed in the Mukalimus Beach area and decorated it with neon lights,” he said.

Recently, PT TIMAH also supported the Babel Bass Community in organizing a music workshop titled A Night of Collaboration, led by Franky Sadikin, a musician and maestro from Jakarta. The presence of this national music practitioner is expected to provide new insights and improve the musical quality of local artists.

“PT TIMAH has supported our activities. We hope this support will continue so that the arts scene in Bangka Belitung can keep growing,” said Anggi Yansyah, Chairman of the A Night of Collaboration event committee.

Previously, PT TIMAH has also frequently supported youth activities in sports, such as sponsoring the Karang Taruna volleyball tournament in Rias Village, South Bangka Regency.

The Chairman of the Karang Taruna Rias Cup I committee, Imam, stated that the tournament served as an important momentum to revive the spirit of sports at the village level while strengthening community ties.

He noted that PT TIMAH’s support was crucial to the success of the event, both in terms of facilities, coaching, and awards for the athletes.

Not only did the tournament impact the sports sector, but it also generated positive economic effects for the local community. During the event, an MSME bazaar was held, involving at least 30 MSME participants from Rias Village.

“The social and economic impact has been very significant. MSMEs are thriving, the economy is moving, and the community is greatly supported. Even now, the positive impact remains substantial for Rias Village,” Imam said. (*)
