PT TIMAH Strengthens Community Development and Empowerment Programs, Supporting Vulnerable Groups and Local Economic Growth

PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen its commitment to implementing Community Development and Empowerment Programs (PPM) as part of its efforts to create sustainable benefits for communities within the company's operational areas.

For PT TIMAH, the company's presence is not solely focused on operational activities, but also on ensuring that its existence delivers tangible social, economic, and environmental impacts for surrounding communities.

Through various empowerment initiatives, PT TIMAH consistently promotes community capacity building, strengthens economic self-reliance, and fosters collaboration with government institutions, local communities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

The company's Community Development and Empowerment Programs cover a wide range of sectors, including education, healthcare, community economic development, environmental sustainability, food security, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.

Throughout 2025, PT TIMAH implemented several strategic programs whose benefits have been directly experienced by local communities.

In the area of community economic empowerment, the company continued the Pemuda Pemudi Berkarya (PEPAYA) Program in Rias Village, which encourages youth creativity through the transformation of recyclable materials into products with economic value. This year, the company further strengthened the program by constructing a gallery to support the marketing of products created by the group.

In the agricultural sector, the company also developed a corn cultivation program in Badau Village, Belitung Regency, involving local farmer groups and collaborating with the village government and the Department of Agriculture.

PT TIMAH also continued the Blue Resilience Initiative Action (BERLIAN) Program on Kundur Island, which focuses on empowering coastal communities to address the impacts of climate change.

The program engages various vulnerable groups through activities such as white snapper farming, mangrove seedling cultivation, hydroponic farming, MSME development, climate awareness education, and community-based waste management.

"In 2025, the scope of the BERLIAN Program was further expanded through the development of broiler chicken farming and the establishment of community-managed waste banks," said Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk.

In the healthcare sector, PT TIMAH operates the Oto Sihat (Healthy Vehicle) Program, a mobile healthcare service designed to reach communities throughout the company's operational areas.

Currently, three Oto Sihat units operate across Bangka, Belitung, and the Riau Islands. Throughout 2025, the program was implemented 56 times, benefiting a total of 7,114 community members.

In the field of education, PT TIMAH continues to operate the Pemali Boarding School (PBS) Program, which has been running since 2000. Through this full scholarship program, the company provides educational opportunities for high-achieving students from underprivileged families in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, the Riau Islands Province, and Riau Province.

As of 2025, the program has produced 922 alumni who now work in various professions, including teachers, doctors, lecturers, law enforcement officers, and professionals across multiple sectors.

PT TIMAH's commitment to empowering vulnerable groups is also reflected in the Menjaga Nusantara Program in West Bangka Regency, which includes initiatives in food security, MSME development, entrepreneurship education for persons with disabilities, waste management, and women's empowerment.

In the marine sector, PT TIMAH continues to strengthen its Fishing Ground and Coral Garden programs as part of its commitment to supporting the sustainability of coastal ecosystems and improving the livelihoods of fishing communities.

In 2025, PT TIMAH expanded the Fishing Ground Program by installing hundreds of additional fish aggregating devices (FADs) in several marine areas, while the Coral Garden Program was strengthened through the installation of new coral reef structures in the waters surrounding Putri Island and Tuing Sea.

In addition, the company continued its onion cultivation program in East Belitung, which has now expanded through crop diversification with corn cultivation to further strengthen the independence and resilience of local farmers. (*)
