PT Timah Strengthens Commitment to Wildlife Conservation for Environmental Sustainability

PANGKALPINANG—PT Timah's efforts to support environmental preservation and maintain biodiversity continue. The company is carrying out wildlife conservation programs focused on protecting and rehabilitating natural ecosystems across its operational areas.

The wildlife conservation initiatives are part of the KEHATI (Biodiversity) program, implemented in all of PT Timah Tbk's operational regions, including the Bangka Belitung Islands and the Kundur Karimun areas.

On Bangka Island, PT Timah is conducting sambar deer conservation efforts at the Air Jangkang Reclamation Village and PT Timah’s headquarters. In addition, endemic fish and wildlife conservation activities are taking place in the Mentok Urban Forest, along with coral garden and artificial reef projects.

On Belitung Island, PT Timah is also involved in sambar deer conservation efforts in Burung Mandi Village, East Belitung.

On Kundur Island, PT Timah is working on wildlife conservation in Kundur Park, home to many endemic fish and wildlife species.

PT Timah has also collaborated with the Alobi Foundation to carry out wildlife conservation at the Alobi Animal Rescue Center (PPS) in Air Jangkang, focusing on the rehabilitation of wild animals.

"PT Timah is committed to various wildlife conservation initiatives, which not only protect these animals but also safeguard the ecosystems that support their existence," said Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah.

Additionally, PT Timah consistently and sustainably undertakes reclamation efforts on post-mining land. These reclamation activities include replanting native species that provide food and shelter for wildlife, as well as restoring ecosystems.

"The company hopes that these measures will benefit both wildlife and the surrounding ecosystems," he added. (*)
