PT Timah Shapes a Golden Generation Through Pemali Boarding School, Grants Scholarships to 108 Students

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah continues its commitment to improving the quality of human resources in its mining areas by providing educational scholarships to outstanding students through the Pemali Boarding School program.

The Pemali Boarding School program is part of PT Timah’s contribution to preparing Indonesia’s golden generation, in line with the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.

Pemali Boarding School is PT Timah’s scholarship-based class program, initiated in 2000 and held at SMAN 1 Pemali in Bangka Regency. The program has produced 886 alumni to date.

Currently, 108 students are enrolled in the Pemali Boarding School program. The initiative targets high-achieving students from low-income families in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and the Riau Islands Province.

Each year, PT Timah conducts an open selection process for the Pemali Boarding School program. Applicants go through a series of assessments, including administrative screening, academic potential tests, psychological tests, interviews, clinical psychology analysis, and health examinations.

Through the Pemali Boarding School, scholarship recipients receive comprehensive educational and dormitory facilities that support optimal learning. The boarding school system is designed to instill discipline, independence, and strong character, enabling students to excel academically while also developing strong soft skills.

This educational scholarship program, which has been running for over two decades, is a tangible effort by MIND ID, the Indonesian Mining Industry Holding, to realize the 2045 golden generation vision and enhance the quality of human resources.

PT Timah Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said that Pemali Boarding School is a concrete form of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in education, focusing on improving the quality of human resources in its operational areas.

“Education is the main foundation for building a developed nation. Through the Pemali Boarding School program for children in mining areas, the company hopes they will become knowledgeable, strong in character, and ready to contribute to Indonesia Emas,” said Anggi.

One student of the Pemali Boarding School, Ahmad Harlan Fadhillah, said that joining the program had been his long-time dream.

“Harlan’s motivation to study here grew from seeing his family’s financial struggles. It sparked his determination to pursue something greater through the Pemali Boarding School so that he could achieve more than his parents ever hoped for and eventually elevate his family’s status,” Harlan shared recently.

According to him, Pemali Boarding School has not only supported his academic education but has also provided guidance in character building and personal development.

“PT Timah truly supports Pemali Boarding School students by providing free books, pocket money, meals, and many dormitory activities. There are so many that I can’t even list them all. PT Timah, for me, is a ‘Golden Light’ that illuminates the souls of the nation’s youth on the path toward Indonesia Emas 2045,” he said.

In addition to running the Pemali Boarding School program, PT Timah also carries out various initiatives to support education, such as teacher training and providing educational facilities.
