PANGKALPINANG – Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia since 2020 has had a huge effect on various sectors. As a member of the MIND ID holding company, PT Timah committed in keep supporting the local community in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
From 2020 to June 2021, PT Timah Tbk has poured out around Ro 29,9 Billion, converted into various needs to avoid and handle Covid-19 throughout the company’s operational areas, including Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and Riau Islands Province.
The issuer with code TINS has spread 21.741 grocery packages to the citizens in need. To move the local economy, the grocery package distribution involved grocery stores, UMKM, and local farmers.
Realizing face mask is an important instrument to help decrease the spreading of the Covid-19 virus, PT Timah Tbk distributed 143.332 sheets of masks, consisting of 30.000 sheets fabric mask, 12.980 sheets N95 type masks and 100.352 sheets of 3 plies mask.
Besides that, to encourage the community to be discipline in applying health protocol, PT Timah Tbk gave away 300 water tank units and portable washbasins to public places to make it easier for the community to wash hands.
PT Timah Tbk, together with the community also sprayed disinfectants to public facilities, praying houses, and public service facilities.
Personal Protective Equipment (APD) has become indispensable in dealing with the pandemic. Therefore, PT Timah Tbk gave out 8.851 APD packages to hospitals and public health facilities.
Besides donating to the prevention field, PT Timah Tbk helps with handling Covid-19 patients through RSBT by completing the hospital’s tools and equipment for Covid-19. At the time, PT Timah Tbk improved RSBT’s medical facilities and infrastructures to accelerate test results by holding a PCR laboratory unit preventing Covid-19 from spreading out.
On the handling side, PT Timah Tbk also prepared 4 negative pressure HVAC system rooms, 64 NPRG rooms, 2 special operating rooms for Covid-19, 13 ventilator units, 3 x-ray portable units along with rapid test help, and medicines.
PT Timah Tbk also prepared 11 safe house units with 57 quarantine rooms in total.
The help was distributed to the community by PT Timah Tbk accordingly to their need and growth based on what happened. Even from the end of August to September 2021, PT Timah Tbk distributed oxygen to hospitals in the operational area to handle Covid-19.
PT RSBT Director Dr. Otto B. Kwanda, M.KKK appreciated the donation and endless support from PT Timah Tbk for treating Covid-19 in RSBT. Not only oxygen, but PT Timah Tbk also has donated APD, face-masks, portable washbasins, and so on.
He said, for now, PT RSBT has 133 hospital wards for Covid-19 patients and 11 ICU rooms spread to some regions with RSBT has the most room with 72 wards and 9 ICU rooms.
“We express our gratitude to fellows from PT Timah Tbk’s contribution and endless support. Hopefully, the donation will be useful for the community service,” said him when accepting oxygen donation from PT Timah Tbk, last Tuesday (7/9/2021).
“For now we preparing PCR reagent readiness, oxygen stock, and third making sure of medication supplies. In this case, PT Timah Tbk often helps encouraging coordination between vendors and distributors to provide medicines we need,” he added.
Meanwhile, South Bangka’s Regent Riza Herdavid express his appreciation to PT Timah Tbk for consistently helping out the citizen in their regions in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
“There been a lot of help given by PT Timah Tbk, a lot of Covid-19 aid, also many aids for things besides Covid-19. PT Timah keeps giving away so much help for the community,” he said.
Agreeing, Bangka’s Regent Mulkan mentioned PT Timah Tbk has been relentlessly helping out the community in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Mulkan, the support given by PT Timah Tbk is following the community’s needs at the current time.

Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk’s Company Secretary Abdullah Umar Baswedan conveyed that PT Timah Tbk keeps committed to helping handling Covid-19 in the company’s operational areas.
