PT Timah Holds Regular Scholarship Program, Investing in Education for Mining Communities

PANGKALPINANG - Supporting access to education for communities in mining areas is one of PT Timah's commitments to enhancing the quality of human resources in the company's operational areas.

PT Timah provides educational scholarships for communities in mining areas who want to continue their high school education. This Scholarship Class program is implemented at SMAN 1 Pemali, Bangka Regency.

PT Timah's Scholarship Class program has been implemented since 2000, with a total of 800 students becoming alumni of PT Timah's Scholarship Class Program.

As a member of the Mining Industry Holding of MIND ID, PT Timah not only covers educational expenses but also supports the needs of scholarship recipients. Because the students accepted will be placed in dormitories.

Through the scholarship program aimed at providing educational opportunities to communities around the mines, this step is taken as a positive contribution by the company to the development of education and the welfare of the local community.

This scholarship program is designed to support high-achieving and high-potential students from low-income families in the mining area.

The main goal of this initiative is to increase community access to higher education, providing equal opportunities for those with potential but financially constrained.

The various benefits of this scholarship program are not only limited to the students and their families but are also expected to create a positive impact on the overall local community.

The scholarship program is also aimed at creating a positive effect on the development of local human resources. By providing educational opportunities to children in the surrounding community, the company is investing in the formation of a more skilled and educated next generation.

Through the scholarship class program, PT Timah seeks to empower the local community, recognizing education as the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and this scholarship program is a concrete step in that direction.

The sustainable implementation of the scholarship class program reflects PT Timah's commitment to sustainable development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

With a focus on education, PT Timah acknowledges that long-term investment in human resources is one of the important steps to achieve sustainable development.

PT Timah's Scholarship Class Program has been beneficial to students, as expressed by one of the students currently undergoing education through PT Timah's Scholarship Class Program, Naurah Ashira.

"There are many benefits from PT Timah's scholarship program, especially in helping to alleviate my parents' burden," she said some time ago.

She mentioned that PT Timah fully supports the education process they undergo, from facilities in the dormitories to other activities that support academic abilities.

"With the scholarship class program, PT Timah's support is very helpful for me and my parents financially and academically because with PT Timah's scholarship program, my school fees and living expenses during my time in the dormitory are covered by PT Timah, so we can focus on studying," she said.

"PT Timah's scholarship class program can help improve the quality of human resources in mining areas. This program helps us to achieve our dreams as long as we work hard in learning," she said.

Similarly, Dzakwan Ariqah, a student from Manggar, East Belitung Regency, expressed his gratitude for being able to participate in PT Timah's scholarship class program.

"I feel that I have developed into a much more independent and responsible person. I am motivated to seek knowledge earnestly in a highly competitive environment, so I am driven to always strive to learn better every day," he said.

Dzakwan Ariqah hopes that PT Timah can continue to maintain and improve this program so that its benefits can continue to be felt by communities in mining areas.

"This is also PT Timah's concern that must be continued and even become an example for other companies to continue to care about education in Indonesia," he concluded. (*)
