PT TIMAH Helps Renovate Multi-Purpose Hall in West Kundur District, Supporting More Comfortable Community Activities

WEST KUNDUR - PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting community infrastructure development. This time, PT TIMAH provided assistance for the renovation of a multi-purpose hall in West Kundur District, Karimun Regency.

Previously, the condition of the hall—often used as a center for community activities—was damaged, particularly the flooring, making it less suitable for use.

The Head of West Kundur District, Yusufian, stated that the hall plays an important role as a hub for community activities. It is frequently used for various purposes, ranging from district meetings and school activities to commemorations of major events such as Indonesia’s Independence Day and MTQ (Quran recitation competitions).

“This hall is also used by children to play badminton. So it is truly multifunctional and highly needed by the community,” he said.

He explained that before the renovation, the building’s condition was quite concerning. The hall’s floor was severely damaged, with many holes, which disrupted comfort and even posed safety risks to users.

“The floor had many holes, making it uncomfortable and quite risky to use. Thankfully, the renovation has been completed, and now it can once again be utilized by the community,” he added.

With the renovation completed, the multi-purpose hall is now actively used again for various community activities, including youth and sports activities.

Yusufian also expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s contribution, noting that the company has consistently supported development in the West Kundur area, both in infrastructure and community empowerment.

“So far, PT TIMAH’s support has been strongly felt by the community, from the fisheries and agriculture sectors to youth programs. The company has shown a very positive response to community needs,” he said.

He added that several other PT TIMAH programs have also had a tangible impact, such as the construction of wave barriers to address coastal abrasion, helping to protect community land.

Looking ahead, he hopes PT TIMAH will continue to grow and increase its contributions to the community, especially on Kundur Island and surrounding areas.

“We hope PT TIMAH becomes even more successful, increases its production, and expands its contributions in helping the community, especially for public interests in our region,” he concluded. (*)
