BELITUNG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting communities through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program by providing home renovation assistance to residents in its operational areas.
This time, PT TIMAH provided home renovation support to Abu Samah (67), a resident of Parit Subdistrict, Tanjungpandan, Belitung Regency. Abu Samah lives with his child in a house that was previously in poor condition.
He expressed his deep gratitude for the assistance, noting that parts of his home, especially the back area, were no longer livable.
“I am very happy, especially since parts of the house, particularly the back area, were severely damaged. Thank you for the support. I hope PT TIMAH can continue helping people like us in the future,” said Abu Samah.
In addition to Abu Samah, renovation assistance was also provided to Maryati, another resident whose home had serious damage to the roof. During rainfall, water would often leak into the house, causing flooding inside the rooms.
The Head of Parit Subdistrict, Vita Widyastuti, expressed her appreciation for PT TIMAH’s assistance to the residents. She explained that both beneficiaries were indeed highly deserving of the support.
“Alhamdulillah, our residents are greatly helped. These proposals came directly from the community, including Ms. Maryati, who requested home repairs due to the very poor condition of her house, especially the severely leaking roof that allowed rainwater to enter,” Vita explained.
According to her, the assistance was well-targeted, as it was provided to residents who truly needed it. Both Abu Samah and Maryati are elderly individuals with limited economic conditions and no stable income.
“Ms. Maryati is also a recipient of social assistance such as BPNT and is categorized as a low-income resident. So this support is indeed right on target,” she added.
Vita also mentioned that PT TIMAH has been actively supporting the community in her area, not only through home renovation programs but also through various other social initiatives.
“In addition to home renovation assistance, this year there was also support for community groups such as a football club. Previously, there were also donations for orphans and mobile health services,” she said.
She hopes that PT TIMAH will continue to grow and expand its contributions to the community.
“We hope PT TIMAH becomes even more successful and continues to help those in need. Thank you for the care and support given to our residents,” she concluded.
