PANGKALPINANG -- Maintaining a demanding academic schedule requires a healthy balance between studying and taking time to rest. This is one of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s priorities in supporting students enrolled in the PT TIMAH Scholarship Program at Pemali Boarding School, SMAN 1 Pemali.
As part of its ongoing support for the students, PT TIMAH invited scholarship recipients to spend time together through a group movie screening and a gathering with President Director of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk Restu Widiyantoro on Saturday (September 26, 2026).
The activity was attended by scholarship students, their mentors, and teacher representatives. In addition to providing recreation, the event gave students an opportunity to unwind after a demanding schedule of academic activities and personal development programs.
Students in the Scholarship Program not only attend regular classes at school from Monday through Saturday, but also participate in boarding school activities, additional tutoring sessions, and preparation for the Academic Competency Test (TKA) on weekends.
Devi Yani, a representative of SMAN 1 Pemali teachers and a member of the SMAN 1 Pemali Alumni Association (IKAL), expressed her appreciation for PT TIMAH’s commitment, which she said extends beyond educational support to activities that give students time to rest and strengthen their sense of togetherness.
“PT TIMAH’s support has been extraordinary and consistent since the first cohort in 2000 until today. We are deeply touched and happy to see the students enjoying some time together after going through such a demanding study schedule,” Devi said.
According to her, simple activities such as watching a movie together can provide students with a positive experience. They can enjoy time with their friends while refreshing their minds before returning to their academic activities.
“We hope PT TIMAH continues to grow and prosper and continues to bring benefits to communities across the Bangka Belitung Islands and surrounding areas,” she said.
The students also shared in the excitement. Juli Alpiano, a 10th-grade student, said the activity was something he had been looking forward to because it gave him an opportunity to spend time with his friends amid their busy academic routines.
“Every day, we focus on maintaining consistency in our studies to achieve our goals. Refreshing activities like this really help us recharge. Thank you to the Board of Directors and Management of PT TIMAH for always supporting us,” Juli said.
Inaya Alyaro Putri, also a 10th-grade student, expressed a similar sentiment. According to her, the various forms of support provided by PT TIMAH give scholarship recipients additional motivation to continue maintaining their academic achievements.
“As scholarship recipients, we have a responsibility to maintain our grades and continue achieving our goals. Activities like this make us even more motivated and ready to keep working hard,” she said.
The PT TIMAH Scholarship Program at SMAN 1 Pemali is one of the company’s initiatives to support the development of young people in its operational areas. Established in 2000, the program provides students with opportunities to pursue their education while receiving guidance and support to develop their potential.
Through the program, PT TIMAH not only supports students’ academic development but also encourages the development of character, independence, a sense of togetherness, and the motivation to achieve excellence. (*)
