PT Timah Helps Address Stunting in South Bangka Through Grocery Aid Packages

SOUTH BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its concern for social issues in its operational areas. This time, the MIND ID (Mining Industry Indonesia) member company distributed 100 grocery packages to families affected by stunting and those categorized as extremely poor in South Bangka Regency.

This assistance is part of PT Timah’s support for the government’s program to reduce stunting rates while also alleviating extreme poverty, in line with the directives of the President of Indonesia.

The Head of the Social Affairs Office of South Bangka Regency, Sumindar, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s consistent contribution in supporting the community.

“In South Bangka, there are two poverty categories: regular poverty and extreme poverty. As directed by the President, extreme poverty must be eliminated immediately. Currently, there are 150 extremely poor families, with 50 remaining. We are very grateful to PT Timah for providing 100 grocery packages for children affected by stunting and for families facing extreme poverty,” he explained.

Sumindar hopes that PT Timah’s support will not stop at providing food aid but will also extend to economic empowerment programs.

“For example, through poultry or fish farming so they can have sustainable income, not just enough for daily meals,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ulip (55), a resident of Rawa Bangun Village, Toboali District, said the assistance was a great relief.

“Alhamdulillah, thank you PT Timah for the help. This assistance means a lot to us. May PT Timah continue to succeed and always help small communities like ours,” he said with gratitude.

Through its various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, PT Timah remains committed to supporting efforts to improve the quality of life for communities, including reducing stunting rates and eradicating extreme poverty in its operational areas. (*)
