WEST BANGKA – KUB Jaya Mandiri Sungaibaru fishermen group complained about the damaged beach coast condition caused by the sea wave hack. The damage has reached KUB Jaya Mandiri’s fishermen's hut.
Responding to this problem, PT Timah quickly resolved fishermen’s complaints by donating for the abrasion retaining culvert installation.
The donation was handed over to KIP Head of Division Supervisor Sudartha to KUB Jaya Mandiri fishermen group’s Chief Kasdi, witnessed by Sunga Baru fishermen on Wednesday (8/9/2021).
KUB Jaya Mandiri fishermen group’s Chief Kasdi mentioned, overlooking this problem could worsen the beach’s coast condition.
“If a big tide occurred, the seawater could enter KUB Jaya Mandiri’s fishermen's hut. This has caused abrasion to the beach’s coast. The condition (coast) has been covered by sandbags to hold the wave breaker, but it is not maximum enough,” Kasdi explained.
“This CSR donation from PT Timah will be used to install an abrasion retaining culvert, to withstand the beach’s abrasion. Because if a big tide occurred, the sea wave enters our hut. This abrasion retaining culvert could protect our hut and also withstand the beach abrasion. Thank you PT Timah,” he said.
Rangga Agustiar, Sungaibaru fisherman also agreed and feel happy with donation from PT Timah Tbk.
“Alhamdulillah, PT Timah has donated for the abrasion retaining culvert installation. With this we hope seawater won’t enter our hut anymore, also the withstanding beach abrasion,” he said. (**)
