PANGKALPINANG – As a follow-up to the aspirations voiced by community miners during recent demonstrations, PT TIMAH Tbk held a meeting with its onshore and offshore mining business partners to socialize the new Mining Service Compensation Value (NIUJP) and payment system. The meeting took place in the Main Conference Room on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
This initiative is part of PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to accelerate the implementation of the newly adjusted NIUJP policy, which was officially set on October 8, ensuring that community miners can receive fair compensation in accordance with the agreed terms.
Just a day prior, PT TIMAH Tbk had met with representatives of community miners from four regencies in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara, Director of Business Development at PT TIMAH Tbk, explained that the new pricing policy was formulated by taking into account input from various stakeholders—namely the community, the company itself, and its mining partners.
During the meeting, Suhendra urged PT TIMAH’s business partners to help disseminate the information about the NIUJP tariff adjustment to the mining community and to commit to implementing what had been mutually agreed upon.
“We have formulated the best possible solution for all parties involved. We hope PT TIMAH’s business partners will remain consistent and support what has been decided. The company also strives to align with prevailing regulations, so we’re asking our partners to properly communicate this to the miners. Consistency is key in ensuring this formula accommodates everyone’s interests,” he said.
He further explained that the new NIUJP formula is PT TIMAH Tbk’s swift response to miners’ concerns and is expected to resolve on-the-ground issues—especially regarding payment processing, which will now be significantly faster.
“The NIUJP formula addresses real issues in the field. I ask PT TIMAH’s partners to fully comply with the regulations and procedures for faster payments. We're aiming for payments to be made within one day after the invoice process. We don’t want delays to become an issue anymore—claims that PT TIMAH pays late or that our prices aren't competitive. We’ve addressed all of that,” he added.
During the meeting, PT TIMAH’s business partners also signed an integrity pact, pledging their commitment to follow the agreed-upon terms.
One of PT TIMAH’s business partners, Heri Sadikin, Director of CV Jaya Mandiri, expressed support for the new NIUJP and confirmed that they were ready to implement it.
“We’re pleased with the price increase, and the miners will surely be happy too. Previously the price ranged from IDR 100,000 to IDR 125,000 per wet kilogram. Now it's at IDR 150,000. As a business partner of PT TIMAH, we’re committed to implementing the agreement. This socialization effort also helps us understand PT TIMAH’s intentions,” he said.
Similarly, Amrianto Silaban, Director of CV Budi Baharu Mandiri, stated that they were committed to accelerating the payment process according to the newly set prices.
“This meeting was very encouraging because the demands raised during Monday’s demonstration have now been addressed. The price increase benefits both the miners and us as partners. The payment process will also be direct and in cash to the miners,” he concluded.
Through this initiative, PT TIMAH Tbk hopes to foster more harmonious and productive relationships among the company, its business partners, and the mining community. The company also called on all parties to help maintain stability and work together toward sustainable tin industry governance. (*)
