JAKARTA -- The Free Homecoming Program of the Ministry of SOEs Together with PT Timah in 2025 has begun, the first departure of homecoming participants delivered students from Yogykarta to Riau Islands Province on Monday (18/3/2025).
Currently, the group of travelers consisting of students have arrived in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 and will continue their journey to the Riau Islands using ships from Tanjung Priok Port.
Through the Free Homecoming Program with PT Timah 'Mudik Aman Sampai Tujuan' will dispatch 700 travelers from various regions with the aim of Bangka Belitung Islands Province and Riau Islands Province.
In implementing the free homecoming program, PT Timah collaborates with the Bangka Student Association (ISBA), the Belitong Family Student Association (IKPB), and KPMKR (Riau Islands Student Family).
The Free Homecoming Program with PT Timah was welcomed enthusiastically by the homecoming participants. Since the registration was opened, many people immediately registered themselves.
This was conveyed by Muhammad Rizki, who is the Chairperson of the Riau Islands Student Family (KPMKR) Karimun Yogyakarta.
According to Rizki, this year KPMKR received a quota of 60 people, this number increased from the previous year. With this program, it is very helpful for students who want to go home to their hometowns during Eid.
“The enthusiasm is quite high, because indeed the free homecoming program with PT Timah is very helpful. If you have to go home at your own expense, it's quite big. I even planned not to go home, but because of this free homecoming program, I told my parents that I could go home for free,” he said.
According to him, their homecoming trip with PT Timah was very cool, because they could go home with friends and everything was well facilitated.
“The trip was very cool because it was accommodated very comfortably in accordance with the theme Mudik Aman Sampai Tujuan. And this is my third experience going home with PT Timah and everything is memorable,” he said.
According to him, with this free homecoming program, students do not need to spend money to go home, because everything is facilitated by PT Timah.
“Those who go home to Riau Islands have different destinations, some go to batam, kundur, karimun and some even go to natuna and anambas. They are all greatly helped by this program, hopefully this program can continue and PT Timah continues to take concrete actions to help the community and students in Indonesia,” he hoped.
One of the other homecoming participants, Dea, said that her homecoming experience with PT Timah was fun, because this was her first experience participating in free homecoming.
“I really enjoyed the journey from Yogya we passed Semarang, saw the view from the bus, and this is my experience using land transportation usually by train. I can also enjoy music and read books on the way, meet many new friends,” she said.
He is grateful to be one of the participants of the free homecoming with PT Timah and hopes that this program can continue. This program, he said, is highly anticipated by students.
“This is really helpful, during Eid like this the price of airplane tickets is quite expensive. With this free homecoming we can go home free of charge and I hope this can continue and the quota is added,” he said. (*)
