PANGKALPINANG -- Dozens of members of the Pangkalpinang Branch Scout Council (Kwarcab) National Jamboree contingent enthusiastically participated in an archery training session facilitated by PT TIMAH Tbk's Timah Archery Club (TAC) at the company's archery range on Friday (July 10, 2026).
One by one, the participants learned how to hold a bow, nock an arrow, and aim at the target after receiving guidance from experienced instructors. A total of 35 participants took part in the training and will represent Pangkalpinang City at the 2026 National Jamboree in Cibubur, Jakarta.
The activity is part of PT TIMAH's commitment to preparing National Jamboree participants by introducing them to archery as a means of supporting character development while enhancing the skills of young people.
Participants received introductory lessons on basic archery techniques, equipment familiarization, and hands-on practice under the guidance of coaches from Timah Archery Club.
Subhandi, Head of the Pangkalpinang Branch Scout Council's National Jamboree Contingent, expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH's support through Timah Archery Club in providing the training.
According to him, the session serves as valuable preparation, as archery is one of the activities that participants will take part in during the National Jamboree.
"The support from Timah Archery Club has been extremely helpful in introducing our National Jamboree participants to the fundamentals of archery. Through this training, they have gained basic knowledge and practical experience, making them better prepared for the various activities they will encounter during the National Jamboree," he said.
In addition to introducing basic archery skills, the training also aimed to instill positive values such as focus, discipline, precision, self-confidence, and sportsmanship. These values are expected to contribute to the participants' character development as resilient young individuals.
Subhandi believes that collaboration between industry and youth organizations is a strategic step in supporting the development of young people's potential. He added that partnerships like this should continue to be strengthened to provide broader benefits for students in Pangkalpinang.
"Archery is an excellent sport for developing concentration, patience, and agility. We hope more young people will become interested in this sport and continue to develop their talents and achievements," he concluded. (*)
