PT Timah Enhances OHS Culture Implementation to Prevent Workplace Accidents

PANGKALPINANG – Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is a key priority in PT Timah Tbk’s operations. As a mining company, PT Timah is committed to implementing an OHS culture to prevent workplace accidents and create a safe and healthy environment for all employees.

This commitment is realized through various programs and policies aimed at raising awareness of the importance of OHS at all organizational levels, from management to field workers and the company’s business partners.

By implementing high safety standards and strict supervision, PT Timah strives to create a work culture that prioritizes safety as the main concern.

PT Timah has several programs to promote OHS culture awareness in the workplace, one of which is SafeTINS 5R.

SafeTINS 5R is a form of OHS cultural transformation within PT Timah. Previously, PT Timah had the Mucak K3 and 5R Culture programs. SafeTINS is a combination of these two programs.

The SafeTINS 5R program is an effort to build awareness and discipline in safe work behavior by promoting occupational safety through the implementation of safety measures and the 5R culture to prevent accidents and improve company productivity.

PT Timah’s Head of Youth Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said that a strong OHS culture not only involves applying safety procedures but also emphasizes the importance of a proactive attitude from every individual in maintaining the safety of themselves and their colleagues.

"Occupational health and safety is a shared responsibility. We continuously encourage all employees to be fully aware of the importance of safety, both in the workplace and in their daily activities. With a strong OHS culture, we hope to minimize the risk of workplace accidents and create a safe and comfortable work environment, which will also boost productivity," she said.

PT Timah strives to implement an integrated OHS management system within its operations. This system covers various aspects, including risk identification, risk control, and incident reporting and evaluation.

In addition, PT Timah regularly conducts internal and external audits related to OHS implementation. This ensures that all OHS procedures and policies in the company are running effectively and following applicable regulations.

This member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding continuously holds training and education on SafeTINS 5R to improve employees’ competence in safety.

PT Timah periodically holds OHS assemblies at its various operational areas to prevent workplace accidents.
