WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah continues to carry out concrete actions in environmental management. Collaborating with the community, the programs carried out also vary from cleaning activities to tree planting.
Still, in commemoration of World Environment Day 2024, Timah employees in the Processing and Smelting Division of PT Timah held an action to pick up rubbish in the Jalan Raya Peltim area until they returned to the Processing and Smelting Division, Mentok, West Bangka Regency on Friday (14/6/2024 ).
Dozens of plastic waste were collected from waste collection activities carried out by PT Timah employees. Head of the Processing and Smelting Division, Sofian Simangungsong, followed by PT Timah female employees, walked along the main roads and residential areas to pick up rubbish found on the road.
This action received a warm welcome from local residents, as stated Indra admitted that he was happy with the Garbage Pickup Action carried out by PT Timah which coincided with the healthy walking activity,
"Firstly, the roads are clean and MSMEs are alive because if the participants are tired they will definitely buy drinks at the shops on the road. Of course, we are very happy with this PT Timah activity," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of KNPI West Bangka Riandi appreciated and hoped that PT Timah's activities could be used as an example for West Bangka residents.
"This activity can be used as an example, every time we carry out activities on the road, it also provides benefits to local residents. For PT Timah, we appreciate the money for carrying out various positive activities for the community," said Riandi.
Head of the Processing and Smelting Division, Sofian Simangungsong, explained that the Garbage Pickup Action during the health walk was one of a series of activities to commemorate World Environment Day.
"This waste collection action is one of a series of activities of PT Timah's Processing and Smelting Division which is carried out to commemorate World Environment Day. To reduce plastic waste, the plastic that we use in waste collection is stored back to be used in subsequent waste collection activities," he explained. . (*)
